This was probably not the best idea we had for dining while in Kingston, simply because it was outside, our food attracted bugs, it was hot and the sun was beating down on us. The wind was blowing things over on the tables. There was...More

Thanks for your review and comments which we all find helpful. You do note that it was opening day and I was proud of my staff to have handled an unexpectedly busy day. This time of year when the weather is cool guests prefer to...More

While visiting Fort Henry we sat down for lunch. Unfortunately, the food was average at best. My wrap which was to have hummus in it, did not. The kids meals were non existent and what the kids ordered (hamburger) was seasoned oddly and even though...More

Thanks for your review of the food at the Battery Bistro. I am sorry that you did not enjoy the food. That is not our objective and we do have many dedicated and long-term employees who work very hard to make sure that that is...More

I had a burger which was really good. Salmon sandwich also was smoking good. View of the lake is incredible but a little bit pricey.

Next to Fort Henry, this place has a lovely view of the lake. The food is largely fast food but OK given the bistro location.

As a summer outdoors venue in Kingston, it probably has no rivals in terms of the view. The menu is fairly typical pub fare and the Caesar that I had was nothing special though my companion really liked his nicoise. Only a couple of wines...More

I got bit on my hand while sitting at our table. I'm not allergic but my hand swelled up and is painful. There were a lot of wasps. Fake wasp nests in those beautiful sail canopies would probably deter them. Please consider this or other...More

Fort Henry Restaurants include a variety of food service options for guests depending on the time of year. The restaurants are located inside of Fort Henry National Historic Site (also part of a World Heritage Site). Note that there is no admission that needs to be paid in order to access the restaurants inside the fort. The Battery Bistro is a 200 seat patio on the wall of Fort Henry that overlooks Lake Ontario, Royal Military College and the City of Kingston. The view is spectacular. The Bistro serves a summer-inspired menu and is open from mid May to mid September for lunch and most evenings. The restaurant also includes several interior dining rooms in the historic site that provide similar casual meal service and accommodate reserved groups all year. A canteen with over-the counter food and beverage service is open daily from mid-May to mid-October. The Fort Henry restaurants are popular for special-occasion dining on Mothers' Day and Thanksgiving. The restaurants open to support the Fort Fright Festival in October and the Fort Frost festival in December and October. The fort restaurants are very popular in December during the holiday season for casual diners and reserved groups.
