Two couples out for oysters and appetizers with a glass or two of wine. Great ambience at the bar area where we were sitting. The oysters were shucked in front of us and were fresh, salty and delicious. 18 oysters later and two chowders (a bit too much dill, overpowered the delicate flavour) and three glasses of wine came to... I had heard a lot of about this restaurant before I finally tried it. It is known as the best high-end fresh seafood restaurant in Ottawa. The venue is very small and loud, and featured music played from vinyls. Decor includes an entire bicycle hung on the wall. It is more a cool, loud spot, than a place for a... More

A fav resto - time & time again doesn't disappoint. Small, loud and quaint - Chef is a genius taking food prep, creativity to a whole new level.

Nice overall atmoshpehere, though a bit noisy. Our table was right next to glass window into the kitchen, so it was cool to see the masters at work. There were 6 of us there for dinner, and everyone loved their meal. Their oysters were fantastic, and whether we ended up with a fish or steak meal, it all got top... More

This place was awesome, recommended by a friend , did not disappoint. We went all out and racked up a 400 dollar tab between 3, was worth every penny. Had the 80 dollar rib eye, most expensive main I ever had, was worth it, amazing. Service was fabulous. Good bread. Oysters magnifique !

Met a friend for lunch on a blustery Fall weekday. The reviews had led me to think it would be noisy, but it wasn't busy. Service was casual but quick. I had a big, flavourful bowl of chowder, which was what the weather called for.

The Whalesbone has the best seafood in Ottawa, they recently opened up a bigger location on Elgin St. but it's always super busy just like the smaller location on Bank St. Make a reservation and try everything you can, the menu changes frequently and everything is delicious.

We arrived on a Monday for a 7 o'clock supper. The spot is loud and has a great atmosphere. So if you are looking for something quiet and romantic, this is not your spot. We started with a few oysters. Good and excellent quality, but still very expensive. We next followed up with The special of the day and the... More

First time visited. We ordered some oysters, fish& chips, chowder soup, and mussels. Oysters was very fresh. The batter of the fish was just right. Chowder was a bit different than usual, but it was full of ingredients. And last but not least, the mussels....... It was perfect. Will be back for sure.
