Despite the name, Town Crier is more a Euro Pub than a British or American Colonial Pub. There are 50 beers on tap, and not the usual collection, Belgian, British, German, and more. The pints I had were fresh and excellent. The bartender really wanted to make sure he served me something that would suit my taste. The Menu as... More

Well worthwhile visiting this pub. An extensive beer menu and good food. Try the schnitzel or salad. Two floors at this place. The seating is too cozy as you sit too close to your neighbours. Do not sit too close to the windows in winter - quite chilly. Outdoor seating in the summer.

My favourite is the Pork Knuckles. I actually ate there two days in a row once. Great beers, low key, local find. I live down the street and love coming here. It's hard to find a restaurant that serves a decent amount of vegetables in the entree!!

We stumbled across it while searching for a drink and the Town Crier turned into our go-to meeting spot for a week in Toronto. The German oriented menu has great portions, the selection of beers on tap is plentiful (50+), but what hit home with our group was the recommendation of a seasonal local cider that was exceptional. We found... More

in town for a conference and this was a 5 minute walk from my hotel. Alot of good spots on John Street but I'm partial to Irish & German Pubs. Great atmosphere, tunes playing in the background and no TVs. Makes for great drinking and conversation. I sat at the bar and had the Pork Schnitzel entree, outstanding with mushroom... More

We have eaten there twice and found that the quality of the food was very good indeed. Vegetables cooked to perfection and the meat always of high quality. The beer was also excellent and the service was very good. Atmosphere was friendly

My husband and I and most of our friends love this pub so much. The beer selection is amazing and the food is always high quality. That was the reason why we took our friends from Ottawa to this pub to dine when he and his gf visited for Thanksgiving this year. My friend was highly allergic to dairy and... More

I really enjoyed my time here. They have about 50 beers on tap, and were easily able to recommend beers to my taste. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I went back for a second time, and would definitely return if I were back in Toronto.

Unfortunate timing I guess, but the staff was rude, inflexible and unfriendly. The lack of hospitality was astounding. We won't be back.

We stopped in here for a couple of late drinks. Sitting at the bar, the bartenders were helpful and talkative. There was a huge tap beer list from all over the world and we enjoyed a couple of those. Reasonable prices as well

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
