I have been to Hugh's Room many times over the years to see and hear the greats of the folk ,roots genre. There are no bad seats and the sound is excellent. There is a catch though . To get a reservation for a table you must eat a meal. The food is pricey but the quality of the food... More

Let's just say Hugh's Roim is a listening room. Amazing performers...always. Great music. Tickets are reasonable. The food prices keep getting hiked for ok food. Nothing special. Just expensive. A new menu was introduced with higher prices. Again...$20 plus entree's should be great...not just ok. Washrooms suck. Go early. But like I said...you go for the music...not the food. Wait... More

We have been in Hugh's Room first time, and loved it. It is a nice club that accommodates music groups, and music lovers. They serve dinner before the performance. Quality of the food excellent. The ambiance in the club is fine.

This place is a Toronto gem. If you love live music your time in Toronto won't be complete without a visit to Hugh's Room. They have a great new menu and the wait staff are always friendly. Reservations are easy to make on line. The line up of performers is sterling. Even if you don't recognize who is playing on... More

If you go for the music, it's a definite plus. Some great acts come and go. If you go for food and service, well, it was poor and has been every single time we've gone. Plus, it is NOT wheelchair accessible. Can't get in the building unless you can do at least 6 steps and once in, you have to... More

Love Hugh's Room for seeing artists perform! The menu has recently changed. It's very limited and very pricey. A steak with a few fries and a few collard greens....$25. Steak was very plain, no steak sauce offered. Bland, bland, bland. Corn muffins were cold and not a pleasant texture. Hot Mama;s peach pie leaves a lot to be desired....tough crust,... More

There is a small stage to accommodate the entertainers. The food service given the size of the room and the number of guests is more than I expected. The food was good, but nothing exceptional. The entertainment was really special and this room tends to attract unique professionals. I hope you will go.

Last night was the first time going to Hugh's Room. I had read a lot of the reviews and was not expecting to be thrilled with the food here. I was pleasantly surprised ! Our waiter informed us that it would be a while before we would see our food because the restaurant was packed. Not five minutes after we... More

My rating above is strictly based on the entertainment here at Hughs Room. We went out to see Alfie Zappacosta and he was great. Real class act performer with a great voice. The food on the other hand was a distant second. I had the pesto chicken which was about 5 small cubes of overcooked chicken breast with a pesto... More

We reserved our table at Hugh's Room the day before and were treated to a front row table. Arrive early like we did: 6:00pm and you will get prompt service. I have read other negative reviews about the food ....the key is to order the fish..the salmon is consistently delicious. The cheese plate is good too. I come to Hughs... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
