We have been wanting to return to this restaurant and finally had a chance. The food was every bit as good as the last time if not better. We started with grilled squid accompanied with grilled vegetables. They were very tender and perfectly cooked with a wonderful olive oil glaze. Mains were one of the daily fish with risotto. What... Loved this place. The service was great. The food and presentation were both excellent. The folks at the restaurant take great pride in their seafood specialty. Can attest to that. One of the best places to have a dinner in Toronto. Will definitely return.

We visited to experience the winterlicious menu. Great ambience, superb service and and amazing food. Squid for starter and skate for main were both delicious. Cherry chocolate dessert was amazing. Portion sizes were generous versus some fine dining restaurants. Good coffee and good wine. Would certainly go back again for the regular menu.

This restaurant has been around for a very long time. The food is fresh and presented beautifully. I had the opportunity to visit last week. Dinner was excellent. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines and the food. I enjoyed the entire evening - from the lobster bisque to the creme brule. The other guests really enjoyed their dinners... More

My husband and I have not been to Chiado in 14 years. We wanted really good fish and remembered how amazing it had been the last time we were there. We were not disappointed. The service, staff, food and wine were excellent. The waiter helped us pick the wine and it was a great choice. We started off with sardines... More

I've been eating at Chiado for over 20 years and the food and service are always excellent. The menu is Portuguese/Mediterranean with daily fresh fish selections. I'm a meat eater only and always return for the rack of lamb or steak. The food is always moist and delicious. I've never seen fries that huge, they're the size of 2 of... More

I suddenly found myself downtown with a big client in a group of five, and had heard about Chiado from a trusted friend. It did not disappoint and was an unqualified success with the client. It's located in a cute university neighborhood with many more modest eateries, but this place isn't modest or an ordinary eatery. The decor is very... More

After all these years fresh fish has never been better than at chiado! The fillet of grouper was incredibly tender, moist and filled with such subtle flavour. The fish seems like it was pulled out of the ocean today!! The whole seabass was skillfully deboned by our waiter was equally soft and delicious. All of this was washed down by... More

Charming restaurant, with all Portuguese cuisine traditional menu available for your culinary travel to Lisbon. The staff is super friendly and super verse in their wines and menu pairings. Seafood is amazing and the Parabens cake decoration and sing along by our amazing waiter made the birthday occasion even better!

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
