We had a good, light dinner at the Butler's Pantry on a Sunday evening. The service was slow as the place filled up, but the crab cakes were worth the wait. The caesar salad was disappointing, but the dressing on the house salad was lovely. Basic surroundings, nothing special, but a good neighbourhood eatery.

My wife and I visited The Butler's Pantry and had a great experience and meal. I had the Bul go gi and she had the Beef Burgundy Casserole. Both were quite good and I would order them again. The service was very good and our server was very attentive and quick. We will definitely return.

Let's start off by saying you need to visit roncesvalle st if you have never been. Lots of cool shops varied eateries and friendly people. I am a sucker for perogies, so they got my attention. The soup and sandwiches were superb along with a great craft beer menu. This is simply a great place to have a wholesome meal... More

The menu at this eatery has not changed for the last couple of decades. There are mediocre versions of dishes from around the world, with some vegetarian and vegan options. The staff are friendly but since there are not a lot of them the service can be slow. The whole place needs a refresh. The tables have so much grease... More

I really enjoyed the French toast with fruit and whipped cream. The whipped cream was a bit bland, but it worked. The service was very slow. I must have waited ten minutes for a menu and another ten for my order to be taken. The waitress wasn't overly welcoming but she wasn't rude either. I guess if I had the... More

I've been there more than a few times but only because the food is actually very good. As for the rest, it bothers me the service (most of the times), the fact that they don't serve dinner past 09:00 PM, and the pseudo-trendy people who flock for lunch on the weekend. The servings are spartan considering the price. It's not... More

We wanted a quick dinner before attending a 7:00 p.m. movie at the nearby Revue Cinema. The menu selections were very appealing, with entries from many different countries, and the prices were quite reasonable. I chose one from Burma and my companion one from Greece. The service was very fast - maybe too fast for adequate food preparation. However, my... More

I used to live nearby so after I had a terrible experience there the first time, I gave it a second try because it was local and relatively cheap. Bad idea. I can't remember the last time I've had such awful, uncomfortable, rude service! Twice! By two different waitresses! I used to waitress so I understand being busy, overwhelmed, etc...... More

An Average rating is too low but I'd say Very Good is a bit high. The place is very casual and cozy and feels like a home-made cooking type of place. The menu isn't extensive but it's reasonably priced which is a nice change from the usual. It's also pretty eclectic with Indian, Korean, and Burmese options. Everyone will likely... More

We ate here two of our three nights in Toronto, on a block of Roncesvalles Avenue full of other intriguing restaurants and shops. We sampled the shepherd's pie, a beef bourgignon, a Jambalaya, and tandoori chicken penne, all outstanding and all, as their menu says, "comfort food." Definitely! Each entre came with a wonderful salad with fresh, delicious dressing. Two... More

Staying in West End

Neighbourhood Profile
West End
The go-to area for new business start-ups, the spry and creative persona of the West End thrives along its streets. Its independent boutiques, galleries, restaurants, and shops offer brands that can't be found elsewhere. Buildings with ground floor consumer spaces sport up-top artist's lofts, and the West End attracts artists, designers, and fashion industry professionals to its living quarters. It is in the cross-hairs of gentrification, but still resisting it with ironic relish. Hot deals can still be found here on furniture and knick-knacks,. Its call to culinary glory is in its well-priced homemade Polish food, hosting Toronto's go-to spots for hot pierogis and cold borscht. High Park, the largest green space in the city, is a place for dreamers and poets to wander and rest, not to mention a number of energetic actors staging outdoor plays in the summertime.
