My boyfriend and I came here for a Valentine's Day/Birthday dinner and our experience was so special! I was searching for French restaurants in Toronto and was particularly trying to avoid any sort of chain or high-end locations. This unassuming bistro caught my eye online as I realized the patrons seem to genuinely care for authentic food and quality service... More

I have been dining at Jacques Bistro since the 1980s. My friends and I meet there monthly. I travel the world and have yet to find delicious food served more graciously.

Superb bistro lunch. Absolutely French, right down to the baguette and sweet butter. Cozy ambience. Service is not rushed. We will definitely return for dinner.

In our four day visit in Toronto we had dinner at Jacques twice. We were staying at a hotel around the corner and had seen other reviews and decided we must try it out. What a fantastic meal. Jacques and his wife, and extended family, are just wonderful hosts. Before we left we made a reservation (a must) for another... More

Two meals at Jacques. Last week we were there for lunch on Thursday and dinner on Saturday. Both meals were delightful. The Sorin family work hard to make their guests feel welcome, and the food is great. I had the soup of the day and an omelette for lunch; soup of the day and filet mignon for dinner. Everything was... More

As always Jacques Bistro is a delight. We dropped by on a cold and blustery winter's day for lunch. The staff who are all French were welcoming and found us a table beside the dessert table even though we didn't have a reservation. After a wonderful lunch of steak frittes for my daughter and an omelet Bonne Femme for me,... More

When a reservation at another restaurant fell through due to a chef's illness we scrambled to find somewhere else. This tiny, noisy, busy, French restaurant on Cumberland was able to accommodate 4 of us.

Fine food, excellent service A gem of a restaurant in Yorkville where the food is expertly prepared and service is outstanding. Desserts are prepared on site and the raspberry tart is definitely a must have if it is available--usually after Tuesday--however on Tuesday the lemon tart is also a must have. The staff are friendly and helpful and work their... More

What a GREAT restaurant. A hidden gem right in Yorkville. My wife was reminded of this restaurant back in December when she a meeting in Yorkville & walked by the restaurant. She recalled that, years ago when she worked in the neighbourhood, she frequented this place for lunch often. She said she loved the French Onion Soup & the omelets.... More

The food here is about 3 1/2 to 4 stars. The reason I gave it 4 stars was the service. The waitresses and waiters are superb here. The main dishes are fresh and flavourful with no extra seasoning required. They were very welcoming when we entered the restaurant. It is a great little spot for a great french meal. We saved... Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
