Food was tasty and wine selection was great. Not a cheap event so be prepared to throw down the black credit card. Environment was cozy and quiet so you could chat with colleagues. Been here a few times and staff is always pleasant and knowledgeable.

We went here for Winterlicious 2017 and they had a nice choice of dishes to choose from. While the service was amazing, courteous and prompt, the food was underwhelming. We had the Arctic Char for main, Ahi Tuna app, and a pear cake for dessert, all appetizing, but the flavours were just not as amazing as I expected for this... More

Went to North 44 this evening. This restaurant is owned by Chef Mark McEwan. The Executive Chef is Sash Simpson. I had the Ahi Tuna appetizer - very tasty. Arctic Char with potatoes and capers - delicious, and the chocolate pot de creme for desert. It was all very good. The decor was very elegant and subdued. (Apparently designed by... More

My husband and I went to North44 to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it was a great night. We really like the sister restaurant, One, so thought we'd give this a try and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant is up market but the atmosphere is relaxed - it was busy so there was a nice buzz but it wasn't... More

While the food is very good, on this occasion the presentation for the sea bass was almost identical to the halibut. If you are dining with someone and tend to share should a $50 fish item last the same as another? I don't think so. Disappointing. And even more so that the manager could care less about customers comments -... More

New year eve dinner. Nice atmosphere, the sarvice was lacking at times. I had the steak tartare, which generaly it's one of my favorites. Here definately wasn't for a 4-5 star restaurant. I ordered the lamb chops medium rare specifically asked for to be cooked more on the rare side. When i got it, cut into it, it was well... More

This is a high end restaurant. I've never had a bad meal here. However, some better than others. Service is generally good, they tend to focus on the regulars. At times you get the impression that people are there to be seen, the food Is secondary. Good wine selections. This is a pricey restaurant.

North 44 has great food, the portions are extremely small but very pricey. I will return but it will be on a special occasion. I don't mind spending money on good food, however I left North 44 hungry. I had the Chilean Sea Bass and my husband had the pouched lobster. Both dished were SCRUMPTIOUS! The lemon tart was a... Attentive service and delightful ambience abound at George. Pasta was the highlight. The restaurant was lovely and the food was good but I think George, gaging from the age of the clientele and the menu itself might be of another era .

Staying in North End

Neighbourhood Profile
North End
The North End is a nucleus of specialty food restaurants and shops, especially around its Mount Pleasant Village area. Frequented by antiquers for its numerous collectable shops, furniture spots, and oddity stores, the North End is a maverick of the quaint and quality. Vintage toy stores, accessory shops, and cinemas welcome perusers to step back in time, while the wide pedestrian squares and the large medical and business community inject it with a dose of modernity. With numerous cafes and Toronto's greatest number of independent booksellers, it isn't uncommon to see folks in this area at their leisure, reading outdoors and in eateries, and taking life a bit more slowly – even if it's only during their lunch break.
