Had the best meal I've ever eaten in Toronto in this charming restaurant. We ate from the tasting menu where each dish was unique and introduced us to some things that were quite new to us. The service was impeccable and each course was quietly and unobtrusively explained. Two members of our party had been to the restaurant several times... More

This place never disappoints- have been here 7 times and the food/service is consistently amazing. George serves great food in an atmosphere that is authentic and real. They make you feel very comfortable with out being to uptight or arrogant/snobby. Wine pairings have always been fantastic. This is a great date spot, a great place to take/impress clients and a... The ambiance was terrific and the service was excellent. The food was of excellent quality although the main course menu was very limited. I got the impression that the restaurant would prefer you to try the tasting menu but the problem is that they don't tell you what they are going to serve and there are specific things that my... The blind tasting menu is great! It is a mini-adventure. We tried the 7 course option. It was a very enjoyable and fun experience. Good food (heavy on the seafood side, I would have liked more meat dishes) and great presentation. Despite some of the previous reviews about bad service, I found the service to be excellent. We had different... More

We went back in October 2016 in a group for 8 people. Each of us tried the 7 course tasting menu. Originally I wanted to try the 10 course menu but they advise it will be easier to handle if everyone order the same course. We also ordered wine. We ended up paying close to $300pp with tax and tips... More

Our first time to George – we went with friends we travel the globe with. We'd heard good things and we were looking forward to it. Liked the buzz, the environment had a warmth about it, the interesting menu selection, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our server was efficient, but seemed curt, lacking warmth and personality which made... More

We both had the 5 course tasting menu, one of us with wine pairing, and one of us vegetarian and gluten free. It was a great experience from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. Great service (Ian) - very knowledgeable and attentive. The food is very unique and very tasty. Well worth the visit for anyone but definitely exciting for vegetarians... More

I have been to George several times and on each visit spent over $3,000. I travel extensively and have been blessed to have dined in some of the finer restaurants in the world. The food is outstanding and I highly recommend the 7 or 10 course tasting menu. George's cellar is OK, at best, and market priced. The issue I... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
