Knowledgable and courteous bartenders and waitstaff with a large selection of beers on tap as well as in bottles and cans. The french fries here are great with every beer they serve and the rest of the food is quite palatable as well, I like their pizza very much. This is a very good downtown watering hole to meet up... I got fries and three beers. All were delicious. I went with three of my friends as well and all of their food and beer was also good. Our server was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful with helping us choose a beer that suited each of our tastes. It was a great place to chill with my friends after a... More

Nice, trendy, big city eatery with eye catching decor, good food, very good service and a very excellent beer selection. We came for late evening (9pm) appys and a beer. I made reservations because it was a Friday which proved to be a very good idea as it was busy. Server was prompt, helpful & polite - everything we wanted... More

This was our first visit to Beer Bistro. We had a dinner reservation and arrived mid-afternoon to relax and enjoy a pre-dinner drink. My husband and I liked the atmosphere of the Beer Bistro lounge. I had a flight of 3 beer samples and my husband had a glass of Beer Bistro's own red variety. These were all quite tasty.... More

That time of the year when you want to get together for the holidays for a glass of cheer and we lunch. The Beer Bistro was our choice. It provided a nice place. Food was good as was the service. It was a noisy place but a good atmosphere. Found that how the service the food was too tall for... More

This was our third time to the Beer Bistro, and every visit has been wonderful! The food is super yummy - a highlight is the duck fat fried French Fries. As well the beer menu is extensive, with wonderful pairing suggestions for each meal. Leave room for desert because it is so worth it!

Downtown Toronto cuisine keeps on improving and when I went to the beer bistro my expectations were high. Everything was good but I did not experience that. Ah. Moment.

We chose this restaurant because of their reviews and location. The food was great and the service was better. We made reservations which I highly recommend. We were not rushed at all and we will be back.

This is the spot for serious beer drinkers. They have a huge selection of taps and bottled beer. This is the only place I've been able to consistently buy Dragon, a beer from Jamaica (no not red stripe). They do all sorts of food from high brow to comfort foods and always have a great suggestion for beer pairings. If... More

When I found out that the "Bitter Waitress IPA" was actually from a brewery started by one of the waitresses, I was sold. The IPA was very good. The food was good and the restaurant design well done.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
