I have been there once only at the beginning of the year with my oldest son. We both like to eat in the Montreal Chinese district. None of us will ever go back. Went an evening dressed casually and were looked up like garbage after asking if they had dim sum. Placed in a corner, we were on the verge... More

2 of us ordered three dim sum dishes, one stirred fried Chinese broccali with ginger & a fried noodle with assorted mushrooms. Good plateing, fresh ingredients, natural taste from flavour of produces. Like it a lot as dishes were light, little oil yet fine n tasty. Cantonese cooking should be in this form n taste. Very good service, nice decor... More

We used to frequent this restaurant for Sunday dim sum since its opening. Despite the average quality (we accepted that Montreal dim sum was no Toronto's), we returned because of its relative cleanliness, friendly staff and consistency. Today's overall visit was a disappointment. The dim sum remained consistently average (Montreal standard). Variety remained limited. There was no innovation. Service had... More

I have been in this Chinese restaurant, invited by my Chinese host. It is a typical Chinese high level restaurant with the real Chinese style. The food was very good: mainly sea food (lobster, oysters, clams). Very slow service (totally different than in China).

I have never visited their restaurant but I am a regular customer of their takeout counter downstairs (1002 St-Laurent). The quality of the crispy roasted pork is gorgeous. The duck is fantastic and everything is always pretty good. This is one of the best takeout in Chinatown.

Overpriced for below average food. Our Combo "B" was served as cold, like it was frozen but did not warm up properly. We had only taken a couple of sips of soup before the main dish was placed in front of us. $126.00 with tip for the 5 of us. Not a do over, we wont go back. There has... More

I've been going to this restaurant several times every year since it opened for dim sum and supper. The place is located on the top floor of the Sawtow Plaza on St-Laurent. The staff is friendly and speaks English/French in addition to Cantonese. Menus are easy to understand with French/English and pictures. Although I personally found the food better when... More

Went on Sat before 11am (2.50$/most item) and recommended by friend. Got there around 10:45, got seated quickly and order right away since special price ends at 11:00. Unlike traditional dim sum, no trolleys but you order everything at once, and food brought to table. Strike one-not efficient system and takes longer (ruining dim sum appeal-quick meal). Took us 60... More

Our son, who knows his way around the city, took us to this "special place" - he was excited to introduce us to authentic Chinese food. It was delicious as well! We reached the top floor via elevator, to a nice, bright, quiet room - beautifully appointed. Yes, we will definitely come back, and yes, we will recommend this place... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
