We were greeted at the door by Lorenzo who had saved us a great table by the window because when our daughter booked the reservation she mentioned that it was my husband's birthday. My daughter and I had the small cheese platter which our waiter augmented with a bread basket. My husband had a small Caesar salad which he thought... More

Try the lamb-their signature meal! The salad and vegetables were fresh and plentiful.ask for a window seat and enjoy passerbys as they stroll along historical St. Paul's Street.

Had the pleasure of dining in this restaurant and from start to finish it was an awesome experience. It was early in the week so tables were readily available. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and pointed us in the right directions with wine and food choices. Food was unbelievable and very much worth it on all levels. To top it... More

Great place where you can do wine tasting, have some delicious food and listen to some live jazz music right in the heart of old Montreal!

My fiancé and I had a celebratory dinner at Modavie following our engagement, and it was outstanding! The dim lighting and rustic/modern feel of the restaurant was very romantic. I had the duck and mushroom risotto... it was delicious. You can really tell how much care they put into creating their dishes. For desert I had the tiramisu which was... More

Another great dining experience at this Montreal gem. Everytime my bf and I visit Montreal, we reserve here and are never disappointed. Great food, and always fantastic live music and ambience. It's one of our favourite spots!

Very enjoyable venue for a great meal and fine standards singer. My only suggestion would be that they update their online menus as I had hoped to order something that then was not on the menu anymore. Still, our meals were fresh tasting and beautifully presented, it was fun to try a Canadian wine, and our waiter, Rad, very attentive... More

We stopped off for a night in montreal on our way to Quebec City and we had to go back to Modavie because out first time there was amazing. My wife and I both enjoyed our meals, she had a pasta dish and said the pasts tasted nice and fresh and I had steak frites and it was good. We... More

Off to Modavie for the first time and honestly was not sure what to expect. Reviews were promising and the fact that they have a live band performing contributed to the decision processes. Greeted at the door by Lorenzo, he was very nice from the beginning and remembered our names “Tony and Mary” thought out the evening. I had asked... More

Description
Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
