The atmosphere, the food, the SERVICE- thank you Rachelle, to the talented live Jazz band and last but not least to Lorenzo, who from our afternoon visit and chat while looking for a restaurant for this evening, to our Porto finally - you made our dinning experience and our stay in Old Montreal a memorable one. We thank you! Cheers!!

Had a wonderful dinner here! We went online and made a reservation that day, very easy to do. Greeted at the door by a delightful lady who quickly showed us to a delightful little table for 2 by the window, and asked "is this okay?" (We did see another couple move after sitting down, so they really meant "is this... More

GREAT nice staff - so thanks for that Unfortunately, my lamburger was NOT good, and my friend's duck was bland and made them sick afterwards! Good drink selection, nice live music, but you should probably keep walking...

After a special dinner in August we returned here with the whole family over Thanksgiving weekend. We all enjoyed the food and Radouan took great care of us. We will be back!

The service that we received from Rachel and Lorenzo was the best we have ever received. Things like when we ordered wine I looked back and saw that Rachel was performing a visual inspection just to confirm that they were in perfect condition before using. We had order French onion soup, delicious by the way, and when they were delivered... More

Traditional cuisine in a nice bistrot setting, efficient service and central location in old Montreal. Very good value for money as well.

Food was great. Wine was great. But the best was the service. We had the charcuterie plate and the lamb poutine which was incredible. And for dinner the sesame crusted lamb and the salmon. The lamb was delicious but the salmon was just whatever.

Excellent Restaurant. Excellent Food. Excellent Service by Iman. Excellent Greeting/Service by Lorenzo. Excellent Live Music. What more can we say. Must try this restaurant, especially if you like lamb. And it's in "Old Montreal", one of the most beautiful places to visit. Highly recommend it!

From the moment we (me and my family of 6) stepped in to the moment we left, it was a wonderful experience. We didn't have reservations and Lorenzo and his staff did everything to accommodate us. The live music was incredible, our server was superb and the food was to die for! Thank you Lorenzo, me and all my Francisco's... More

Rachel and Lorenzo made the planning smooth and a absolute pleasure. The waiters were all great and our guest were always attended to and we were kept up to date about attendance and timing throughout the event. Food was super, food and wine priced right and we are already booked for next year - already looking forward to it. Thank... More

Description
Seven nights a week, local bands take the stage at Montreal's hottest Jazz bar and bistro. Modavie's spirited setting sets the scene for a night of great tunes, top dining and generous pastis toasting. The bistro's far-reaching wine menu hits just the right notes and helps round off succulent lamb, fish, beef and inspired pasta dishes.

Staying in Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)

Neighbourhood Profile
Vieux-Montreal (Old Montreal)
The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to some of the city's most antiquated buildings and picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St. Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums, festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a celebrated part of the city that explodes into fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its centre, street performers and artists compete with sprawling restaurant terraces for space along Jacques-Cartier Square, while the cobbled streets of Rue St. Paul and Rue Notre-Dame offer a reprieve of quiet galleries and atmospheric wine bars. Horse-drawn carriages are not an uncommon part of traffic, and the narrows they traverse are lined with boutiques, crêperies, and poutine shops enshrined in buildings of stone and wooden lattices. Here you can evoke Montreal's past with a traditional cooking lesson or historical tour, then enjoy its artistic present with live music and theatre.
