Stop there to fill my Asian food craving in the take-out form, ordered wonton in peanut butter sauce and sesame beef, the portion was really generous and the food quality was really good. I will be back!

I had lunch, the restaurant was very clean. The food quality is average - the roasted duck was dry, Chinese broccoli was average. Overall, the service was friendly and quick.

I strolled through Chinatown at lunch while at a business conference. I chose this restaurant randomly since I saw a steady stream of other customers going in. I had the General Tao chicken with white rice and wanton soup. Everything was deliciously perfect. One thing that was different from American Chinese restaurants was the soy sauce. It was very dark... More

We have been coming here for years. The place is Chinatown typical decor....not very alluring! However the food and service have always been solid. The service was very good. The food was good but not as good as it used to be. We had the Szechwan shrimp which were very good, the ginger beef which was not up to par.... More

We arrived at 11:15 a.m. for our early lunch. The restaurant was quite empty, spacious, clean and tidy. They have a lunch special menu from Monday to Friday, very good value for the lower price. Food is nice. Hot pot of tea is free and staff friendly.

We had the Cantonese chow mein, beef with satay sauce and chicken with ginger and pineapple. The ginger sliced thin and went very well with the pineapple. The service was very good and the food came quickly. For the area, the prices were reasonable.

Went to Mon Shing for their 2 lobster special ( C$36 ) and a serve of Yong Chow Fried Rice. Food is pretty yummy and tasty. And Cheap considering we in Melbourne, Australia are paying A$60/lb for our lobster. Here the 2 lobsters weigh around 3 lbs for C$36. Highly recommend.

Not a lot for vegetarians which is surprising for a Chinese but they made me a tofu and noodle dish especially. Really appreciated them doing that but the noodles were mostly cold when the arrived. Staff were friendly though and gave us jasmine tea on arrival complimentary. Beer was expensive compared to most in the city. On the whole ok... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Bakeries, markets, restaurants, and buffets crowd the brightly graffitied streets of Chinatown, the city's aromatic destination for pan-Asian cuisine. Distinguished at its entry points by towering vermillion paifang gates, the compact neighbourhood acts as a focal point for the Chinese community, hectic with educational facilities, cultural centres, acupuncturists, and foreign-language newspapers. Especially vibrant in the warmer months, when the sweet smell of dragon beard candy along the pedestrian walks of Rue de la Gauchetière signal the beginning of the outdoor street fair season, Chinatown is a treasure hunter's dream, with enough knickknack and curiosity shops to tempt even the pickiest shoppers. The convivial vibe picks up after dark, when the area's active nightlife offers evening crowds their choice of drink, dance, and midnight snacks of pho or oysters. Chinatown's mix of new and old, with herbal remedies being sold alongside pop-culture DVDs, gives the area its own animated brand of moxie.
