Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Had Sunday lunchtime meal out for a birthday. Excellent food, really good staff, friendly and helpful. Restaurant was full but not noisy, clean and well decorated. Food was served promptly and hot. Will certainly visit again soon.

We have been to this restaurant many times over the years but this was our first experience under the new management. We were not disappointed, the refurbished restaurant and bar area have been transformed into a comfortable and charming place to spend an evening. The...food, and the standard of cooking, is outstanding. We had Stone Bass and a chicken supreme dish both excellent, beautifully cooked. We will be going again!More

This was our second Sunday lunch under the restaurant's new owner chef. It really is a "find" - great food, charming service and good wine. The raw cauliflower with curry flavours starter looked and tasted EXQUISITE, the english asparagus sauce gribiche was very good. The...roast chicken - served with seasonal vegtables, roast potatoes and yorkshire was very good sunday fare, the pan roasted stone bass on a leek & spinach with mussel sauce was a really tasty alternative to the sunday roasts. For pudding we enjoyed a refreshing homemade blood orange sorbet. There was a good selection of wines by the glass and we enjoyed 2 different whites. The place has a good vibe and as word gets around, I imagine its conservatory bar and outdoor area will do equally well. We look forward to returning!More

The Pear and Olive offers and rural and stylish setting. From the moment you arrive the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. As a starter, I was intrigued by the raw cauliflower, toasted almond and curry salad, but changed my mind. At the the last minute...though, I changed back and went back to raw cauliflower and was very pleased I did. It was absolutely outstanding. The same goes for the sea bass followed by Tart Tatin. Both truly excellent. An evening meal can be spoilt by bad service, but not here. The service was every bit as good as the food. We're very pleased we live just 20 mins up the road.More

Myself and my partner stayed for a weekend break and were met by Jade one of the owners and shown to annex which was beautiful and bed was extremely plush and comfortable. The kitchen area was complete with a fridge full of drinks and local...milk. In the evening we dined in the restaurant and it went from being a lovely stay to an amazing one as the food was epic and I could do a separate review for on its own, suffice to say we can’t remember having a soup that was smoother and fish (Stone Bass) was incredible. There are a couple of walks within a couple of hundred metres that are really picturesque and a farm shop that is only 5-10 minute walk away that does brilliant coffee and has pop up food stalls on a Saturday so you can really have a relaxed time and not need to drive anywhere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning and the new owners have done really well in such a short time.More

The new owners are certainly getting this right. My husband and I had Sunday lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed it. A little more expensive than your average pub Sunday lunch but my, was it worth it. The quality of the ingredients and cooking was outstanding....Nice to feel you are in a small establishment and not just a number in a mass produced restaurant. New owners and staff were friendly, professional and attentive without being over bearing. Will definitely go back. They also have accommodation so why not make a weekend of itMore

This restaurant was great before it was taken over, but the cooking now is first rate. Beautifully prepared food - the goats curd, roast beetroot and radicchio starter was exquisite. Excellent cassoulet and sublime hispi cabbage. Washed down with wines from Thorne wines. Great service....Very, very easy to go back. Thank you.More
