Nice situation and ambiance at the top of the town . Food would be regarded as good by some but not to everyone's liking. Rabbit pate or Indian-style cauliflower soup may not be of your favorite likes . Check the menu and compare with the...many competitors down the hillMore

Fantastic food and service, would highly recommend. We had the three course evening meal, each course was superb. We also really liked that there was no rush, plenty of time to relax between courses.

We are in the glass house. It was busy and there was a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We opted for the a la carte menu. Service was a bit slow - we waited half an hour for our order to be taken...and the amuse bouche of cumin and carrot bonbons arrived before we had ordered! We both had scallops to start which were well cooked and a good portion. I ordered the beef for the main course which was extremely tender. My husband ordered the guinea fowl but when the main arrived it was beef too. We didn't send it back as we didn't want to wait for a new order to be prepared so he ate the beef which he enjoyed but we did mention at the end we had the wrong main. We shared cheese and the 5 cheese selection was of all interesting local cheeses. Reasonable value for money and they remembered it was my birthday and served some macaroons and fudge on a plate piped with happy birthday which was a nice touch.More

Our first visit and already planning our next. We had dinner seated in the glass house and from entering to leaving the front of house team were fantastic. Attentive, friendly and welcoming, the team are fist class. Now the FOOD!! The menu isn’t extensive but...it doesn’t need to be with the quality and sublime taste of each dish. This is some of the best food we have tasted and we are lucky to have eaten at many renowned restaurants. The amuse bouche was a perfectly balanced treat. Freshly baked bread served with butter, oil and olives was followed by 10g of caviar. Our starters were the scallops and the celeriac, mains were the beef and sea bass dishes and we both had the dark fruit meringue desserts. Each dish was beautifully presented and a triumph of taste. The salutation inn is a jewel in the southwest not to be missed!More

We had the most wonderful lunch at the Salutation whilst visiting Topsham recently. Everything about it was absolutely perfect, from the lovely fresh fish of the day, the ambience of the beautifully designed conservatory and the efficient and friendly service. And to add to the...experience we also stayed in the hotel which had the most comfortable of beds and everything we could possibly need, situated in the heart of Topsham. Would highly recommend. Thank you, we will most definitely be back! Keith & Jane.More

A warm welcome with drinks in the comfortable lounge was followed by a beautifully presented dinner, tasting uniquely delicious. We were served by a smiling, very polite waitress, quietly efficient and the atmosphere was relaxing but cheerfully buzzing. Can’t wait for another experience at The...Salutation. A special occasion supper, didn’t disappoint - discreet service that was well paced and with good humour. Excellent quality food, beautifully presented with a great balance of flavours. Wine list was a good choice, some real gems in there! Recommended.

Came here for the taster menu as had come some years before and had only had the 3 courses. If I'm truly honest we were disappointed as we didn't feel the taster menu was that at all but merely and extension of what appeared to...be on the 3 course menu. A couple of the dishes were imaginative but the rest was well cooked but very mediocre. It's a shame as we were really looking forward to it. With wine and drinks it transpired to be an expensive evening for what can only be described as a mediocre menu. Staff although friendly, were not prepared as we were offered menu's, something NOT required as we had booked the taster menu. I expect more from a restaurant of this alleged calibre. Training and a sense of audience appears to be lacking. A great pity.More

Went here for first time on Saturday, and unfortunately we didn't enjoy our food at all due to lack of fan or any sort of cooling equipment, feels like we sat and eat our food in a sauna. We left without finishing our meal as...it wasn't really not safe to stay longer specially for pregnant lady. May be come back in winter time😁More
