This winery has been owned by the same family for 120 years. That's quite the heritage and they take it seriously. I was on a tour led by the matriarch of the family. She is very knowledgable and warm. Three of her 4 children are actively involved in the wine business also. The tour took us from the grape press... More

You come here for the wine. And you leave thinking knowing the wines were very good and met your expectations. However, you are thinking more about how warm and friendly the Nikolaihof family and team are. The family patriarch, Christine Saahs, runs the show here and speaks to each guest and welcomes them like they are family. Classic, down home,... More

This is the oldest vineyard in Austria dating back more than a 1000 years. The wine cellar was even built over and in an even older Roman wine cellar parts of which are still visible. A wine tasting here is wonderful as are the wines. All of the wines and everything at the complex is Eurpopean organic (a very strict... More

My wife and I enjoyed a custom wine tasting tour of the Nikolaihof wine estate on June 29, 2016. Nikolaihof is the oldest wine estate in Austria. Its history dates back almost 2000 years to Roman times. Nikolaihof has always been organic and has been practicing Bio-dynamics since 1971, making them one of the longest Bio-dynamic practicing wineries in the... More

Dinner at the Nikolaihof Wachau winery and restaurant was highly recommended to us by the owner of our Hotel Burg Oberrana. We found it easily after a 20 minute drive along the beautiful Danube. Tucked back in between its vineyards we were led through its cozy wine tavern into a magical setting with candlelit tables under a massive tree in... More

We had dinner and the tour last night at Weinstube Nikolaihof, and it was utterly fantastic. The owner of the vineyard with which the restaurant is connected, Ms. Christine Saahs, greeted us and walked us to our table, where we also met her son Nikolaus who is now co-owner of the vineyard. We sat down at an outside picnic table... More

Wachau is a very special area of Austria. I was astonished that a restaurant like this existed. Have you ever tasted raw rose petals? they are delicious. A beautiful all weather place. They have an excellent wine catalog but I will always prefer the house wine. More that 20 different dishes of best quality and aesthetic most of them unique!

One of the most famous wine producing estates in Austria, the Nikolaihof also offers a great menu of typical Austrian food, to be enjoyed in a nice salon indoors, or, if the weather allows it, in a courtyard under the canopy of a massive lime tree. The place is also full of history, and the lovely owners will be glad... More
