This Restaurant is always exceptional. There is no other place like it in the world, and I do mean the world in my experience which is considerable. There is the museum, very fascinating. The food is a fixed menu usually 5-6 courses some of which...are small but quite sufficient. Red wine made by the Maserof is usually included. Water beer white wine is extra. There is often entertainment in the form of a Flamenco band and dancers. Carolina the hostess and owner will likely sing for you and may expect a song in return. Do expect lunch to lats several hours. There is no running water toilets flush with a bucket, or electricity and phone signal is marginal. It is open lunchtimes only on Saturday and Sunday and reservation is essential. Around September there are grape treading evenings lit my candles. These are very good fun evenings. Ladies do not wear floaty dresses to the grape treading. Candles and floaty dresses do not mix! These evenings are usually sold out by July. It is not cheap or expensive but a totally unique experience. American friends have said that if they could bottle it and take it to USA including Carolina they would make a fortune! You will know why they say that once you have visited. Cash is vital, as card machines will not connect in the mountains. Enjoy.More

OMG the food here is amazing. I think only open at weekends for lunch, the restaurant is in the old wine bodega, and you will get a guided tour of the museum thrown in. Food was really exceptional - five courses including wine, and some...lovely dishes including beautifully prepared salads, with fresh flowers. Can't wait to go back.More

If you like a unique experience you have to go there. The food was good, with fresh, local produce. Staff was really friendly. We also got a tour in and around the museum. Beforehand I thought it was a bit expensive, but considering the fact...that the wine is included, the 6 course meal and the time you spend in a nice environment, it is not.More

Part antique warehouse, part museum of the rural life of past centuries, part weekend lunch club with wonderful entertainment. Maserof is completely unique. Carolina is full of high voltage energy and life, although the cluster of buildings that constitute Maserof does not have any electricity....This is history, brought to life with wine, food and Carolina's cabaret. The food comes to the table on beautiful battalions of mismatched china, wonderfully presented, made from the freshest seasonal produce and delicious. Wine flows, from the bodega's own vintages. Before lunch you will have a chance to see where the wine has been pressed (and at the right time in the early autumn you may even have a chance to help press it!). The kitchen is historic - candle lit and full of antique artefacts, it is much loved, well cleaned and remarkably efficient for such a small, dark space. After lunch, on full stomachs and with well lubricated voices, guests are invited to sing a song from their homeland. As a Russian family announced, before murdering a folk song with great mirth and enjoyment, 'we normally drink a lot of vodka before singing this song!' This is a 360 degree experience. The setting is amazing, perched on the edge of a very agricultural valley among the harsh mountains, it is a beautiful place to be. The food is delightful, rustic, very well presented and full of flavour. And the atmosphere is vibrant. Carolina has help in the kitchen and with service, which is very well delivered. She also sings - she was born of an English father and Spanish mother and she was born to perform, in particular to sing with a rich voice that is both melodic and gravelly, a vocal ambassador for the 'gitana' culture of the region. If you want The Ritz then go The Ritz - but if you want to let your hair down, taste history, be more than a little bit spoilt at the table and be richly entertained then forget The Ritz and go to Carolina's Bodega Maserof. And please remember, while The Ritz might be sophisticated and take credit cards, Carolina takes cash!More

Wonderful location and the Flamenco singer/dancer was entertaining. However, I didn't appreciate the pushy owner trying to make us sing into her microphone. This is a good restaurant if you enjoy audience participation and lots of noise, but not recommended if you want to be...left alone to eat your lunch. The food was very average for the price.More

Remote location in the mountain west of Jalon. Old winery wich have been restored and transformed into museum and restaurant. If the time is right you can participate in the process of producing wine. Very enthusiastic and heartly hostess. And good rustic food prepared on...gas- and woodstove. No electricity, which we experienced when we arrived on our electric bikes and asked for a place to load our batteries. And after dinner it is compulsory to sing, no matter how. An experience you must not miss!More

This remote Bodega/Museum/Winery has the most wonderful atmosphere, created in part by its rustic, electric-free charm and mostly by the very enthusiastic and warm welcome given by proprietress Carolina!! We were lucky enough to join in the colourful and interesting guided tour she gave before...lunch. The dining room was warmed by two huge fires and the glow of many candles. The staff were friendly and efficient. The food, a six course set menu, all cooked on wood fired stoves was amazing, delicious and plentiful. The home produced wine flowed freely and soon the whole dining room had a very convivial atmosphere! Towards the end of lunch two musicians gave us some Spanish favourites which turned into a sing along and those that wanted danced along too. This was fine but then it turned into a sort of international Eurovision song contest with each table singing a national tune....hmmm.. Anyway we would definitely return it was a fantastic experience!! Next time we will remember to bring cash to pay the bill as there is no electricity to let you pay be credit card, fortunately we just had enough euros not to have to do the washing up!!More

We went for the first time taking two friends visiting from the UK with us. Not knowing what to expect we had a wonderful surprise. No electricity so candelabra on tables, comfy antique furniture, antique crockery and cutlery and the food was exceptional, 6 courses...each one a delight, wonderful balance of ingredients. The wine from their own vineyard free with the meal, very palatable indeed. The entertainment was provided by a guitarist / vocalist and of course the inimitable proprietor Carolina who put us all at our ease and made us Sing for our Supper. Long tables of diners from France, Germany, Russian and us four from Yorkshire each invited to belt out a national favourite. A standing ovation for our four man rendition of Ilkley Moor B'aht 'At made the afternoon. An overall experience we will never forget. Will be back just need to increase the choir numbers.More

I visited with a party of 16 friends celebrating a birthday. The drive up to Maserof was breathtaking and the Museum fascinating. We were welcomed by our convivial host and treated to a wonderful 6 course meal with abundant wine. All the vegetables were freshly picked...and the menu, though rustic, was imaginative. After our splendid feast Carolina invited all the tables to 'Sing for their Supper'. She herself had a splendid voice. I toured the kitchen which was straight out of a previous century but bursting with fresh vegetables and herbs. You must not miss this fascinating restaurant and experience its unique style and ambiance.More
