I treated my family (6 of us) to a wonderful meal last night at Brasteds. We weren't disappointed....the food...the service absolutely first class.... fine dining at its best. The food phenomenal and each course was infused with an explosion of flavours in the mouth. The...service was top class. Nick a fantastic front of house man. Extremely attentive to all customers and so professional. We are planning a swift return for sure!!More

I was looking for a fine dining experience within a 1 hour drive of Downham Market that's suitable for couples and having a romantic atmosphere, and of course excellent food and service. I can confirm that Brasted's does not disappoint and exceeded our expectations. This...is a restaurant with around a dozen tables, beautifully decorated that lends itself to a romantic atmosphere with excellent service and some of the best food I've eaten within the whole region over the 36 years I've lived in Norfolk (since birth!). We opted for the 4 course option, which was substantial and actually I thought represented good value. Yes it's expensive, but not excessive for a fine dining restaurant with service and food of this quality. I can't really comment too much about the food as the menu changes every few weeks, but it's top quality and won't lave you disappointed. Everything is on the menu, but as is the case with these types of places half of the menu is full of pretentious phrases. The quality and quantity however I cannot fault, really is a well put together menu using what seems to be very high quality ingredients and the menu covers a good range of tastes. The service is on par with the quality of the foods - it's superb. Whilst the majority of the service staff were very young, the actual service received was excellent and I couldn't really be critical regardless of how negative and cynical my mood is. I sincerely hope that all tips go to the waiting staff fairly and they are paid more than the minimum wage, as they were a key part of the experience. The staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. Other than for the bill I don't think we ever needed to ask the waiting staff for anything - it was all done for us before we even knew we needed something. We both had a couple of "mocktails" which again, were perfect and I'm unable to give any criticism of at all. The entrées, amuse bouche & pre-dessert's were a nice little touch which we both enjoyed. Quite often fine dining restaurants, particularly ones with fixed prices for a number of courses provide very small portions per course, trying to convey a quality of quantity image. The portion sizes here were larger than most fine dining restaurants I've been too, but equally they are of course not the same as a "normal" portion size at a traditional restaurant or what you'd have at home, particularly if you were only opting for a single course. I felt this was the perfect balance, where we both left stuffed but equally we were able to eat everything put in front of us. A tricky balance to get right but Brasted's managed to pull it off. To give some balance I'm desperately attempting to come up with some negatives or at least areas Brasted's could improve upon, but I'm really struggling. From the car park through to paying the bill and everything in-between the experience was everything I wanted and more. My girlfriend was equally impressed and we'd have no hesitation in both recommending it and returning there. I'd be even happier if they accepted American Express (AMEX) as a payment method, but quite frankly if that's the biggest criticism I can find the owner can sleep very easy! This is a perfect, intimate and romantic restaurant that's ideal for a special occasion; It's one of very few little gems scattered around both Norfolk and the wider region. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, on each and every areas it excels and should be at the very top of any list of fine dining / special occasion dining experience within the East of England.More

Visited for a long delayed Anniversary Treat given to us by our kids, and it was well worth the wait. Ambiance was just right, jazz in the background, lovely intimate decor and smartly turned out, efficient staff. Needless to say the food was exceptional, well...cooked and wonderfully presented. After living abroad for some years we have rather struggled to find restaurants who deliver this kind of quality menu for a very reasonable price. Mostly the food is rubbish at a rip off price. How fortunate we feel to have found a gem, we will be backMore

As usual the food was amazing, as were the staff. Such a shame that Nick the general manager completely ignored some of the quests, but went overboard with attention at some tables. We don’t like fuss but it would have been nice to have been...acknowledged and to have been asked if everything was ok. It’s unlikely we will returnMore

Faultless. How very polite and friendly all the staff are without being false. Such a lovely setting and decor inside. It was nice to see a good restaurant serving quality gin and not the standard makes, this goes for the table with numerous whisky and...ports etc. The set menu was impeccable and extremely well presented. Extremely memorable and if we ever return to Norfolk we will certainly return. This is not quite L’Enclume in Cartmel but make no mistake this is extremely good. Thank you all for a great night with excellent staff.More

Booked this fantastic restaurant weeks before my birthday trip to Norwich, so glad we did! Staff so friendly and efficient without being too intrusive. A short taxi ride from Norwich city centre brings you out to the beautiful country surroundings of Brasted’s. We were about...half an hour early, but were welcomed immediately to the stylish surroundings of the main restaurant. Menu is so enticing and we struggled to make our choices, but settled on the 4 courses, which includes a number of intermediate courses, therefore left extremely satisfied, but not feeling stuffed! Not cheap by any means, but were fully expecting this and thoroughly enjoyed our evening enjoying fantastic wine, drinks and food all served by lovely staff! Look forward to returning when we’re next holidaying in the area!More
