Nice atmosphere, very helpful and friendly staff, thanks Kelly. Garden Burgers were excellent and homemade, unlike many others establishments who buy them in! Wonderful dessert of Orange Polenta cake with coconut ice cream again homemade, was divine. Good overall experience and wholly recommended, I imagine...the many events they stage here are really good too, nice to support a local business.More

What a fantastic pub, cosy atmosphere and the most delicious food. Staff were so friendly and the food was the best I have tasted in a long time. Fish of the day was outstanding and cooked to perfection. My friend had the pork belly which...was equally as good and very tasty. Generous portion sizes. Their homemade chocolate brownie was out of this world. I will definitely be back. Good value for money too. The pub itself has so much going on.More

So impressed with the food and ambience here! Two vegetarian/vegan options for main today, burger and fries or crispy teriyaki tofu. Went for the tofu with quinoa and edamame salad, pak choi and pineapple, packed with flavour and definitely not something I could do at...home. Dessert was coconut arancini with coconut ice cream and mango, equally amazing. Wish I had taken photos but couldn't wait to dive in. Great service front of house and my compliments to the chef for giving me the best vegan/vegetarian meal I have ever had! Really imaginative and brilliantly executed. I'll be back!More

We have visited the NightJar on 2 occasions now and both times have been exceptional. The pub itself has a nice cosy feel yet very modern and stylish. On both occasions we have sat upstairs and we love how spacious it is (the room itself...and the tables- no elbow wars!) and it is beautifully decorated with fairy lights which added a lovely touch. The staff are so welcoming and polite! Very attentive and helpful with any questions we had regarding the menu. The menu itself has something for everyone. On our first visit we went with a fussy eater and she managed to find something she could enjoy. It was very difficult to choose what to have as everything sounded wonderful. The food is AMAZING! Proper fresh, local ingredients and presented beautifully. Everything is made fresh and you can definitely tell! I wish I took photos of everyone’s plate but they were eager to get stuck in! Was very impressed even with the toilets! Lovely hand cream and a basket filled with toiletries should we need them - a lovely touch! So pleased we have found this place as we live only 15 minutes away and it has now become our new favourite! We have booked for a table of 21 for a Sunday roast in December and cannot wait to show it off to our family and friends so this place can get the recognition it deserves. Thank you the NightJar Inn! See you in December!More

Visited the Nightjar with our two dogs for Sunday roast. It did not disappoint - very dog friendly (provided water and dog biscuits without even asking). The roast was fabulous - best one in the neighbourhood. Great service - good job team!

Great location and decor but sadly the food was not to the same standard on our visit. We were part of a large group which was a challenge at 6pm im sure but our starter didn't arrive and my correct main didn't arrive. The staff...were great and my dinner did arrive in the end but seasoned Rosemary chips they weren't as just a pot to sprinkle over. Our friends chicken pie was overcooked and dry but they didn't want to raise plus their flat bread starter was dry with no butter at all. The staff deducted our burger cost without being asked which was a nice surprise but the food needs to be better for the cost. Sorry as this goes against most reviews and it is a great venue so hope food was a one offMore

First visit to the Nightjar as we had heard good things. We ordered a starter and a main each, which were good sized portions. The selection of beers was great, local ales from Otter brewery and Salcombe. There was also Moretti available along with a...few other lagers. We also noted there was a large selection of gins if your into that. The ambience was great, not really busy but a hum of conversation, not too loud. Also another benefit was it’s dog friendly, we will definitely be visiting again! A great find.More

What a lovely surprise this restaurant tucked away in a small Devon village turned out to be. Really delicious food served by pleasant staff in a welcoming relaxed atmosphere - what more could you ask. Have eaten in a number of so called specialist fish...restaurants - no names mentioned - - but haven’t tasted hake as good as I have eaten tonight. Keep up the good work guys you are starsMore

Really lovely meal enjoyed by us all last night. Good quality food & wine at reasonable prices. The waiting staff looked young & a bit shy as we arrived but they all did a great job. A live band started shortly before we were leaving...which was an added bonus. Give this place a go!More

Friday 28th April What a shame, table booked 7.45, friendly welcome, all looking good. Order taken, then we waited and waited for our food, which tbh, was ok at the best. Got a sort of ‘sorry it took so long from the waitress’ but it’s...not her fault. Can’t remember the last time I didn’t leave a tip. Will try again sometime. Hope I can leave a better review next timeMore
