We as locals love this pub. The food here is consistently good. Visited on Saturday night and had the freshest most delicious monk fish that we have ever had in even the most expensive of restaurants. Nothing fancy, just simple and delicious. Perfection !!

Lovely hearty food, friendly staff and the cheapest Sauvignon Blanc you will find. The Tolcarne is the only other decent pub in Newlyn but it is expensive, £7:50 for a large wine. Had a great New Year here.

Stopped off whilst walking on South West Coast path, met with a very friendly welcome & good choice of food. Wife had crab soup which she described as yummy, big & very tasty. Gusiness pie was great whilst being washed down with some good ales. We also took opportunity to play a few games of pool which was something we... More

Ignore the decor and pool table and continue in for the best crab soup I have had. The staff were lovely too.

Went there today for lunch (dogs welcome) very warm and sensitively modernised with amazing views. Ordered Crab Soup....boy oh boy does this soup pack a punch. A huge bowl of piping hot soup with delicious garlic bread arrived. The soup has to be the best Crab soup I have ever had complete with pieces of crab meat (not just one... More

We drove past this establishment several times, saw the reviews and decided to give it a go. After tackling suicide hill and almost being wiped out by a maniacal driver, we found a park beside The Red Lion. On entering there was 1 person sitting at the bar. The bar attendant /cook asked us what we would like. I asked... More

Very friendly pub with great food. What a great choice of lovely, fresh, tasty food. We had the fish pie which is just how a homemade fish pie should be, full of lovely fresh fish and the crab salad which was extremely tasty. Would highly recommend eating here, lovely view from the window and it is dog friendly and everyone... More

Really good fresh cooked local fish, all food we had was great. Only intended to eat here one night but the food was so good we went three times, staff were really friendly and gave brilliant service. Would recommend to everyone if you are in the area.

Bit unsure when we first walked in as this is definitely a locals pub. Nothing to worry about though as staff and locals very friendly! I went for the burger and chips. My Husband had Steak and Ale pie with chips. Both were meals were good. Would go back. There's no parking by the pub so we parked down the... More
