Very good choice of classic, traditional pub grub meals. We had best steak and ale pie ever! Also highly reccommend the lamb hot pot. Best proper chips in the world too! Very reasonable value for money, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. (Shame about all the...More

Went for an evening meal with the family during half term. We were seated in the restaurant where there were only 2 other parties dining. The service was quite slow but the wait for the meal was over an hour long. When it eventually arrived...More

Called in to make a booking last week for an evening meal. Very friendly service and a good evening meal. Plenty of different Jennings beers to select. The meal was well presented with plentiful vegetables and was tasty. Will go again

I dined here while I was doing the Cumbrian way. I had three courses, all of which were excellent in terms of taste, portion size. Really enjoyed it.

Great pub grub. Service was excellent and staff prior to and during our meal (there were 17 of us who'd prebooked and ordered) were so friendly and helpful.

We visited for an impromptu lunch whilst out walking in the local area and what a splendid find it was! The steak and ale pie (a proper pie with a bottom, not a casserole with a lid) was overflowing with chunky beef and a gravy...More

It's a nice enough environment, a standard village in with a restaurant area separated from the bar. Four real ales to choose from, in good condition. The food service was a little slow, both in attending to our orders and delivering the food. Food quality...More

Dear Grike, Many thanks for your recent visit and review. You're right, we are a traditional Lakeland village, and as such we do take a 'laid-back' view on things as no-one is ever in a rush. People are on holiday, many staying with us, so...More

We booked for Sunday lunchtime before we came away on holiday, as we are staying in Caldbeck. What a lovely pub/restaurant this is. Spotlessly clean, very friendly staff, and excellent food. We all ha the Sunday roast which was delicious and would highly recommend. Many...More
