Went for my husbands birthday and wasn't disappointed. It has a cosy atmosphere and the staff are just lovely. The food is amazing, changing with the seasons and I would highly recommend anything that involves the homemade piccalilli, it's to die for, as is the semifreddo.

The food here has been phenomenal every time we have visited, we went last night with my husbands parents and it did not disappoint! Steaks cooked to perfection and the belly pork and black pudding mash is to die for!! Service is flawless, welcoming and so cosy! Highly recommended, best to book beforehand. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Visited for dinner and can only say that it exceeded all expectation. Exceptional food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere. Chef Andy produces beautiful tasty dishes and you cannot help but have three courses. I strongly recommend the semifreddo to finish.

Stunning food with staff that were incredibly polite and welcome. We arrived about 15 minutes before service ended and with one table remaining we were seated. Few miles away from a hidden gem 'wardour castle'

Felt we needed a night out, so I gave my wife a choice and she picked the Forester. This our sixth visit and we have not been disappointed yet. If you like fish it is the place to go. Always fresh and beautifully cooked and presented, they also serve local meat and game dishes which are equally good. Somewhere special... More

My girlfriend and I visited this lovely local pub for dinner one Saturday evening. We were greeted very warmly by the staff who then continued to be very attentive and friendly all evening. We had a 3 course meal with every dish well presented and extremely tasty. I would go as far to say it was the best food I... More

After finding the pub on the Via Michelin website we decided to visit on a trip to Shaftesbury. Although it was a quiet Tuesday night, the hosts were very friendly and welcoming and they had a lovely log fire burning. The pub had been awarded a Bib Gourmand so we were expecting something above the ordinary and we weren't disappointed.... More

We were a large group of family and close friends (9 adults & 4 children) and the range of food ordered was impressive. It was all very good and was served on time and at the same time. The accompanying wine was also very good. The service was some of the best I have experienced in a pub. They also... More

This is a regular spot for any special meal I am celebrating with friends and/or family. The food never disappoints and changes regularly. The wine list is extensive and a good range of price if you don't want to spend too much, my sister particularly loves their Gin selection, the local Conker Gin being our favourite. The staff are always... More
