Lovely food, great coffee and genuinely lovely staff. Love it out back, it’s a really quirky and homely cafe in Halstead. Not easy to find for the average visitor, there is a small car park opposite, and a pub almost next door one might park...in…the toasties get my vote!More

Visited with 3 friends for a booked afternoon tea. The quantity, quality and service were all first class, and I can honestly say this is the best afternoon tea I’ve ever had. On booking you’re given a choice of 2 sandwiches out of 9 fillings...as well as choice of bread. Comes with a mini pork pie, salad, mini jugs of salad dressing and chutney, mini cheese scone, large scone, tip tree jam, clotted cream and a selection of 3 cakes as well as a mini Kilner jar of lemon posset. Everything is home made apart from the pork pie. A hot drink of your choice is also included. We were advised we were welcome to take away anything we didn’t manage to eat and they would box it up for us - they said people rarely manage to finish it all, and they were not wrong! Staff and service were faultless too….can’t wait to go back….More

Outstanding! What a gem and an absolute asset to Halstead! We stopped off for lunch after passing by several times before. During covid we made the decision to support local cafés from now on and wow! The food was first class and the service was...spot on. Lovely friendly staff with a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Beautiful interior with a quaint courtyard garden. We will definitely be back.More

What a fantastic little cafe… we went there for breakfast. Great choices on the menu and the food was superb. We sat in the courtyard and it was so lovely.. as it was a warm day it was like being in the Mediterranean 😎 We...can’t wait to go back. The staff were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome.. thank you 😊More

After the disappointment of the Cafe at Hedingham Castle we flipped open TripAdvisor and looked for somewhere nearby. The Little Book Cafe was perfect, and clearly the place all the locals prefer to come. Everything is home made, and if you are alone there are...books to browse with the meal. Limited apace inside, but takeaway also available.More

Fantastic food and friendly staff. The food was lush and the milkshakes were better than McDonald's. Will definitely go back again.

Hello, yes, well-behaved dogs are welcome in our courtyard. We ask that you use the alleyway down the side of the cafe to get to the courtyard. It is covered and so rain proof! We hope to see you soon. Best wishes Claire... More
