We booked a Sunday roast online via book a table thinking the menu looked ok and reasonably priced. We wanted to go somewhere near the cinema as we’d booked to see a film afterwards. When we arrived the menu presented to us was different and...25% more expensive than the menu on book a table. We eat out a lot and don’t mind paying for a good value meal but this annoyed us. We complained and to be fair the waiter was apologetic and offered us a meal at the advertised price on book a table. We ordered chicken and lamb and I can only the describe the meal as poorly presented and cheap kebab style cuts of meat. The vegetables and roast potatoes were tasty but this does not justify the meat it was served with. It was also very odd that a chicken roast doesn’t come with stuffing. We later noticed this is an add on For £3.50 !! The wine was extortionate as well as the service charge which although we paid it, left a bad taste. We went to marco Pierre white recently and paid not much more than this for a 3 course exceptional meal with drinks!! We won’t be going back. Overpriced, cheap cuts of meat. Had we not been offered the old menu price. We would have left. We wont be returning which is a shame as it’s local for us but the fact is they are charging central London prices with inferior offerings.More

As we walked by the window we noticed the restaurant wasn't very busy, but finished tables hadn't been cleared. We entered but had to wait before any member of staff greeted us. We were shown to probably the smallest table in the restaurant even though...they weren't busy. We were given menus & told the drinks menu was at the front. I then sat down & the chair went through a hole in the floor. Once seated we waited nearly 15 minutes to order drinks. Food came reasonably quickly. However, my wife's meal was swimming in oil. We asked about dessert, but they had no sorbet so we declined. We have visited here occasionally over the last 8 years. The decor & furniture haven't changed. Quality of the menu, food & service have all declined, while prices have risen significantly. The imposition of 12.5% service charge is criminal!More

Bad service the whole way through. I can see that the restaurant has told other reviewers that they "have checked their CCTV". I would love for you to check the CCTV and see what we saw! I am only posting this as your restaurant contacted...OpenTable to state we were no shows. Unfortunately we did show. How did you miss us in a practically empty restaurant? We had to chase for water, napkins, plates, condiments etc. Took a napkin from the empty table next to us eventually. 5 mins later a femal staff member walked over and dumped about 10 napkins on our table and walked away. Aggressive much! The quickest part was getting the bill. My partner was served a cocktail that was approximately 1 sip and it was gone as the Martini glass resembled something from a doll's house play set. Staff openly talking about us in ear shot "huff, puff, what do they want", "WHAT'S WRONG" yelled from the bar when we requested another drink from a waitress. Food... Garlic bread? Covered in rosemary, couldn't find/see/taste garlic. Burger bun a brick, chips cooked on the outside not the middle and my chicken was so dry it peeled and was like string. Checked the review site before we went and saw 4.3 so thought this will be great. As meal became worse and worse we read the comments in the reviews. Filter anything from the last 4-6 months and it's ALL bad. I am assuming I am too going to be called malicious as a previous review was and I see they had a real similar experience to us. No wonder it was practically empty at 9pm on a sat night. We won't be going back. Refused to pay service which they after a fashion fianlly broken hearted it seemed accepted but we're so disappointed. The venue looks beautiful, menu looks great and there were 2 staff members out if the team of 6 or so who we saw, who when they appeared were not particulary helpful but the whole experience was shocking. £80+ for 2 people, 2 mains a sharer starter, 4 drinks and 2 sides for what we got in hindsight unacceptable & I should have argued for most of the food to be removed from the bill. Food and anbienc should be renamed Food and Ambulace. The manager sists there watching his CCTV and the owner is raking it in from unsuspecting guests and no doubt pays his staff a pittance so thats why they and the unqualified chef act like this .They need to learn manners. Imagine this lot on a cookery show each week as they would all be evicted on the first eviction date or Lord Sugar would fire the whole lot and ask for a new set of customers. Why are people so dishonest as its theft of you hard earned cash.Dispicable.More

Booked for xmas dinner, preordered. An error was made with our order which cost us *significantly* more. Was told on the night that the waitress would speak to the Manager. Nothing was done. Contacted the restratrant since via email and they have simply ignored my...emails. Certainly wont ever return, they clearly don't care about how disastifed we are.More

Very tasty food. Well prepared. However, the Cow & Pig is not cheap. The prices that it charges are above the dining experience. On top of that, a 12.5% service charge is added. I prefer to be the one who decides what to tip. Adding...the charge to the bill could be a reflection of the management. Sorry, Cow & Pig!More

We went here for our works Christmas meal unfortunately the service was not great. When our first course came out we ended up serving it ourselves. No glasses or plates were cleared away so we ended up clearing the tables ourselves. By the time the...main meal came out most of our group had left to go on to the next venue booked. Again we served our own food. The plates were cleared away after this course but by the time the dessert came out there was only 7 of us left to eat it and it wasn’t long before closing time. As we were leaving we noticed the water you get for the tables which never reached us was just sitting at the bar. Based on this nights experience we won’t be back.More

Booked a table for a Christmas party for 9 people. 2 people couldn't make it due to family emergencies. Manager wouldn't accept to take their meal off the bill. Already had paid 5 pounds deposits each as well. We had a long conversation over the...logistics of it, could not make her see sense. Ended up having all the extra food brought to the table and ended up going to waste and taken home for the dogs. Meal with a few drinks came to over £400. Overpriced overrated. 12.5% Sevice charge including for the invisible diners… ridiculous policy. Would not come back here again, do not recommend it. Not worth the hassle.More

We had high hopes for this place, but was so disappointed. Service wasn’t good at all and that’s the bit that doesn’t cost much a friendly service and waiters that look after you that’s the most important bit but sadly this place lacks that. We...know restaurants are struggling and you expect in these times to pay more but portions were small and the food just ok. Board outside that offers 2 for 1 cocktails all day everyday is misleading it needs to be taken in in the evening because it doesn’t include evenings. We ordered a mojito and it tasted like mint and lemonade could not taste any alcohol and we know a mojito! This is the weakest we’ve ever had. Added to the bill was a £42 service charge which we accepted and reluctantly paid but the service really didn’t warrant this. Never mind we won’t be returning.More

Very overcooked almost completely burnt and the drinks were 20 minutes to arrive and flat. To sell steak for over £100 is laughable but one guy spent 90 quid for a steak that was not cooked how a proper steak should be cooked. If you...are intending spending big dollar then use a well known restaurant from qualified Michelin rated chefs so The Fat Duck fro Heston is nice so is Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill but these are worth paying money for and the waiters do not look bored or playing with their phones. Both the Fat Duck from Heston and his other restaurants and of course Marco Pierre Whites Steakhouses and cuisines here and abroad are of what you expect 3 star Michelin not this sids cafe from only fools and horses. For what was given you are better off nipping to a McDonald’s or a Burger King as they are 24hr and these buggers expect you pay them a service charge and that seems the only time they talk when its money they want. No manager was there. Total rip off. Dont botherMore

We attended as a group of 3. Joe and Jake were tag-teaming making drinks and serving us. The standard of service delivered by these two chaps was excellent! They were friendly, funny and contributed to a great atmosphere across the restaurant. The food was very...great and well priced for the quality. The burger was medium rare and well seasoned. Both of the other guests had Steak & Ale pie which again tasted excellent. They had a large cocktail menu on offer which was again reasonably priced (if you manage to get in to be happy hours!!) Overall a pleasant evening with excellent service. We will be going here again. It’s also evident that time has been taken to decorate the venue to a lovely standard which added to the atmosphere.More
