Can here today for our second visit and the bumbling buffoon spilled drinks on myself and my fiancé literally just as we sat down , stood there while it soaked up and mumbled I’m sorry , the girl was the only one who offered us...another table , our clothes and possessions were wet and sticky , they cleaned up with paper towel , waited one hour for food , my fish was disgusting, greasy, oily and tasted watery , very disappointing. Staff are not trained and had to be told what to do , 2 people to clean 4 small windows. I wouldn’t eat here again . We had to explain exactly what was wrong with the food , it got taken off the bill but I felt like I was under investigation for not liking the foodMore
Have visited once before, quite good , thought we would revisit, booked, arrived early, ordered drinks dropped by serving staff over the table, my bag , coat stuff, as well as my fiancé, moved table , mumbled apology, 1 hour wait for food, fish extremely...greasy, spaghetti ok, after offering to pay, they insisted, me paying for drinks only, but not a great experience, staff need more training possiblyMore
Under new management.
Good old-fashioned style pub with separate restaurant. Good food, good prices. Pleasant welcome. Generous sandwiches.
They offer baby changing facilities but no disposal! This surely is not acceptable - although I can see that there is very limited space
Called late on the off chance we could get a table for a large family. The Artichoke were only to happy to rearrange tables to fit us into the restaurant area of the pub.
Warm, welcoming and cheerful staff.
Even with a few noisy children...singing along to the background music!
We all ordered roasts, chicken, pork and lamb on the menu, vegetables were cabbage, cauliflower cheese, swede and carrot mash and broccoli, all cooked to perfection, there was plenty of food on the plates even for the hungriest of husbands!
Chatter ceased and plates were cleaned, pudding ordered home made brownies (a brownie only made in dreams!) ordered with squirty cream, pouring cream, ice cream and even custard, sticky toffee pudding could have fed 2 (if you were generous to share!) .
Staff were attentive and the final bill was a good price for the amount of food and drink that 11 people consumed.
To sum up...
A great place to spend time with family and friends and we would highly recommend.More
We went to this lovely village pub for a lunch. We had salt and pepper squid to start followed by the best burger I’ve ever had! I can’t say how good the food was.
I believe that this pub is under new management and they...have certainly made a fantastic start. The service was quick and the staff were warm and friendly.
This is a must go back!
Thank you for a great timeMore
We visited the pub/restaurant this evening and was hugely impressed with the friendless on arrival. We had booked a table for 6 personnel and ordered different starters and main menus. The standard of food, presentation, taste and portion size was excellent, compliments to the chef....It’s definitely a location we recommend and will visit again.More
We took our German Shepherd puppy out for a walk and lunch with friends and stopped in for a pre-booked bite to eat.
First puppy pub lunch so we were worried.
What we got was an amazingly warm welcome and a bowl of water for...the tired pup (he behaved but the bowl is no more).
What a great team they now have at the pub they couldn’t have been more professional or helpful.
Massive bonus that the food was excellent too.More
Was driving by, saw under new management sign so had to stop. We had the best lamb roast that we have had in very long time and could tell all fresh new ingredients. Met the new team- how warm, welcoming and friendly they all are....Well done and good luck from us both. From Your new regulars 😀Maria and Ian x 5 starMore
Yes they are. When the was at the Artichoke a customer was there with his faithful friend. I asked the landlady about this and she told me that this dog was a very welcome visitor to the pub. Hope this helps.
