Best carvery I have had in a long time. It was so tasty, loved it. It was all cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly. Will definitely return again 😋
After changing from a tenanted to a managed pub, the Evenhill has now settled down, after a few initial difficulties, and once again become the very pleasant place to visit that it always was. The best thing about it is the friendliness of all the...staff, who make coming here a really pleasurable experience. Next best is the Sunday carvery, whose popularity speaks for itself (booking advised). There is a good choice of dishes on the daily menu - for example steak, pork belly, fish and chips, sausages, sandwiches - which are well cooked and presented. You can eat in the bar area, or in one of the picturesque rooms of the restaurant If you're after a relaxing, friendly atmosphere and good 'pub grub', this is highly recommended.More
Today we had our usual Sunday dinner at the evenhill. As always, friendly staff, clean tables, and lovely atmosphere. The food was plentiful, hot and tasted delicious.l would also like to add this Sunday Calvary is great value for money.See you all soon and thank you.
Stopped in to try out a local business as we always try to support local, and have to say I’m saddened at the awful experience we had. We ordered Roast ham and eggs. Honey roasted ham, spiced apple chutney (not sure why this is present)...eggs and chips £14. Dick Turpin springs to mind because this was sheer daylight robbery. The ham is packet ham, so thin you can see through it, 2 eggs and a few chips (not hand cut) thrown on a plate. Having been nothing short of stalked throughout our meal, by a waiter with little to no skills in front of house, we ate because we were hungry and had no choice but to eat. The tables were sticky and the walls dirty and sashed with food and oil. Some Dead flowers adorned the table, sharing the collected dust with our food, The restaurant was messy and unclean with a shambolic feeling to it, cleaning materials left out on display, items abandoned on the floor covered with a tea towel in a bid to ‘hide’ them from the eyes of customers. The entire experience was dreadful, a very expensive lunch for what it was, £44 which, when given (I mean had the bill tossed at us) the bill and told here you are your bill for you, there was no please or thank you from the unkempt chap serving us. Come on people, it isn’t difficult to keep a place clean and to have your staff turned out looking clean and tidy. Get the pub organised and people may enjoy their experience a bit more!More
If I could rate 0 I would!!! we thought we’d support our local pub and book for our sons Christening party for everyone to have food & drinks at The Evenhill! All booked back in June, agreed with the Manager. Lovely jubbly. THEY’VE NOW CANCELLED...THE BOOKING 7 WEEKS BEFORE THE EVENT BECAUSE CAVERY TAKES PRIORITY! I never ever moan on here but HOW COULD THEY DO THIS!!!! Disgraceful. Worst service and pub EVER. I have all emails confirming the event. Penney needs to learn how to manage her diary and not agree to events she can’t handle.More
We went to the Evenhill today for the carvery for a family birthday. The carvery was excellent, as was the service. Thank you all very much!
I had lunch with a friend. Staff friendly and pleasant surroundings. I ordered the pie which was ok. The pastry was very hard though. I struggled to get my knife and fork through it. Otherwise mash and gravy were nice and it was filling. I...asked if they did home made chips and was told a definite no. She went on to say the chef would throw a fit if asked to make his own chips which was a strange thing to say. My friend had a sloppy linguine in a tomato sauce with fried chicken on top which really seemed like two meals on the same plate. She didn't like it.More
I came to the evenhill for a Sunday carvery with my family. After hearing mixed reviews after the change of management we unsure what to expect. Everything was exceptional, the staff were very attentive and they went out of their way to make sure the...kids food came out at the same time as we went to get ours. The selection was excellent and everything fresh and regularly replenished, really good selection of meat and the veg was lovely. We live locally and will definitely be back soon. 10/10More
Wondeful welcoming staff, drinks perfect, outstanding fish and chips. Massive fish, crispy chips, home made tartare sauce, mushy peas, boiling hot. Even the napkins were quality. It beat us and we regrettably had no room for dessert Maybe next time. Will definitely come back. 10...out of 10!More
My partner and I went for some birthday lunch and the food was amazing. I have added the pictures because of the generous portion size. Would highly recommend the Evenhill.
We went here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We went on his birthday last year and it was wonderful. Today it was awful!!!!! I ordered a cheese sandwich with chips (£9.50) cheap mouldy white bread, cheap cheese and cheap pickle! Never going back. The best...thing about our visit was the refund after complaining!! Such a lovely venue, management should be ashamed of themselves.More
Sunday Carvery ~ Very poor. Meat was OK but roast potatoes were inedible, looked great but rock hard, sat over hot plate for hours judging by lack of custom. Vegetables soggy, gravy tasteless. Pudding microwaved rubbish. This place is absolutely awful. Second time in so...thought I'd give it a chance but its terrible, don't eat here. Whoever owns this place needs to jog on and get decent staff and decent foodMore
Last minute decision to visit the Evenhill. Recently changed ownership and the food was terrible. Burger and chips £16. Burger was so over cooked it was hard. Chips were frozen and I’m sure the burger had been reheated. Used to be a nice restaurant with...a good variety of food. Not any more.More
Looking forward to dinner as the menu looked lovely. Large board outside saying dog friendly but didn't feel like that! Ordered garlic bread to start, no bread atall! Decided on steak pie which I was assured was homemade, instead of mash chips, husband ordered haddock...with chips and peas puree . Fish was nice, chips undercooked and came with frozen peas! The pie looked OK but was worse than a shop brought, very little bits and not much meat with hard pastry, tried 3 bits and all grizzle, veg was soft and spongey chips undercooked! The lads working were good and took off bill for me. Thought would have treacle tart for pudding didn't have any. Sorry but not a good experienceMore
