What a gem. Only booked because we had to be in area but we were so pleasantly surprised. An imaginative menu, high quality food and excellent service.
Excellent and reasonably priced food, great selection of beers, loads of outdoor seating, and really friendly staff. Can’t recommend highly enough. Will definitely be going back.
Lovely village pub. Menu had a good variety of dishes and the food was lovely. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely go back.
Great pub, Food, Atmosphere, hospitality and staff. And reasonably priced too All roasts served hot Definitely recommend a visit
Wow visited the crown today and they had roast lamb on the menu, my favourite, great food, great service. This pub is ran by the most amazing friendly couple and to top it off its dog friendly, nothing is to much, totally recommend
Very hungry and tired on a long journey home, we googled pubs nearby and came up with this gem of a pub! Fabulous traditional pub, lovely friendly staff and amazing roast. Loved the flamboyant Yorkshire puds. ! We were so pleased we found it and...would love to return if we were ever in the area again!More
An enjoyable lunch for some friends and I. Good range of draught beer from different breweries and plenty of food to choose from. The pie of the day (chicken) was lovely. Desserts were tasty but all arrived lukewarm.
Hi Stuart, many thanks for the review and feedback on dessert, which we've discussed with our team. Glad you enjoyed your time with us and hope you'll be back soon. Suzanne
Excellent lunch today with family. As the weather was good we sat on a trestle table out the front, facing the church. We were looked after by two lovely ladies with table service. We had three courses which were all delicious, each chose different dishes....My scotch egg starter was freshly homemade with soft yolk. My whole place main with hassle back potatoes was very good, fresh and tasty. Maybe just too much “brown” butter on the plate for my taste. Side of veggies were freshly steamed. Affogato dessert with Amaretto for dessert had some biscuit crumb in the bottom adding and interesting texture. All wines available by the glass. Just be aware that the pub had no carpark and local parking is a bit tricky.More
We were a pretty eclectic group of eight adults (two currently invalid) two children, a baby and a dog. We were given a lovely room to ourselves and from the point of booking to the second we left, we could not have asked for more....The staff were friendly and polite throughout with good service and even though we were out of the way in a back room, they kept checking if we needed anything and the space between courses was perfect. We were not rushed in any way but were not left to stew either. The pre-ordered food was fantastic, the black pudding scotch egg is to die for! Every one of us enjoyed our meals, from the gluten free fish and chips to the pork chop, pies and mushroom arancini. We couldn't fault anything. Thank you so much for giving me my best ever birthday meal out and although we found you by accident after being let down for another pub, we will be back and would not hesitate to recommend you.More
Reasonably priced, helpful and friendly staff, food good selection and the food we chose was very nice. Great drinks (Gin Cocktails). Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Met up with two friends for lunch. Tasty food, excellent service and reasonable price. Had to share pudding as quite big and full from mains course. Staff keen to please and very accommodating, Big 'E' was lovely. Would recommend.
Really nice pub, with excellent food. Nice atmosphere, good drinks (Highclere Gin, real ales), friendly staff, overall super
Fancied a meal, out and was not disappointed at all. Great staff, warm welcome and cosy atmosphere. We ate from the specials board and it was superb. The fish pie was outstanding but oh, the duck cottage pie was amazing 😍 Topped by a few drinks,...an ideal night out, thank you.More
Lovely pub and lovely people but what a disappointment with the food quality. We ordered the Mac n cheese for my 4 year old daughter and on arrival of this dish, the pasta was hard and my daughter couldn’t eat it. When raising this with...the waitress, there was no apology but, “I will raise it with the chef”? When she returned after speaking with the chef, she went on to explain that they cook pasta, Al dente style! Such a disappointment in the service at this point. Who serves hard pasta to children? The bill arrived and there was no offer to deduct the cost of the child’s meal!? I challenged this and then it was, “I will need to speak to the boss”! Why should customer service be so awkward? I didnt mention the under cooked pastry on the pies. Wouldn’t recommend this placeMore
Hi Nick, it was lovely to meet you and your family last Saturday, although such a shame to read your review. We’re sorry to read that you didn’t enjoy your lunch with us although, we weren’t made aware of the issue with your daughters’ macaroni...More
