Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Having dined here a year ago whilst at Arena UK I brought a group of 8 for supper this year and my daughter and I stayed overnight. We all ordered differently but the food and service was very good with generous portions - I had...the steak pie which was excellent and recommended! The room was just perfect for a stay over but my lasting impression was the staff who really went the extra mile from assisting with the booking to ensuring our stay was as comfortable as possible. The icing on the cake was the takeaway breakfast for our early start. Thanks so much Welby Arms.More

What a lovely little pub, beautiful food and very welcoming staff. I had the steak and ale pie which is the best around the Grantham area. Would highly recommend. Will be back.

In wee Allington for an Arena UK event and the only option we found for Arlington dinning, 2x dinners, mostly good. Very traditional pub which was cool for us Texans. The pub food was well executed with enormous portions and the ice cream selections were...fantastic to finish off the experience. While you do get some stares and quirky looks if you're not local, all's well that ended well. Whilst unlikely we'll be in the area again, we'd come back for sure.More

Excellent food, but the dining room not very warm. We used to come regularly, but not been for a few months, due to it being cold the last time we were there, but thought would give it a try. There was a couple opposite from...where we was sitting, and I heard them comment on how cold it was. We go out for lunch once a month, but won’t be going back. Also needs a makeover, the walls are in a bad way, also the ladies toilets where not up to standard at all. It’s a shame has coukd be a warm cosy pub.More

Two seniors, who happen to live in the same village as this pub, called by pre-booking for a mid-week lunch after a walk. The menu was substantial, the welcome was warm and the meal was first class, and delivered very promptly, although other large parties...were also eating. However, my real compliment for the business comes a few days later, when a early evening pre-Christmas dinner had been organised by others, for any village folk wishing to join in. Menus were pre-planned, but the food delivered for approx thirty plus folk all at once, was hot, substantial and very acceptable. The staff did their utmost to assist in making the whole event a very successful one. An excellent evening.More

Really disappointed, the position sizes were embarrassing, we had the chicken and broccoli bake, it wasn't even a child's portion, I would have been embarrassed to bring it to the table, it wasn't cheap either, around £14. We had to ask for more chips as...well because there wasn't many for 4 of us, they even charged us. One of the kids had sausage and chips, there was about 8 chips. Definitely won't be going again.More

Sunday roast was perfect. All inge are fresh & cooked on the day. The vegetables are perfectly cooked, not in the slightest over cooked. You are given a delicious tasty extra boat of gravy for the table. Fresh, home cooked food. Highly recommend. The interior...is light & airy, tastefully decorated.More

Ate here during a stay at nearby Allington Manor on a business trip. The pub has great atmosphere, looks lovely inside and out, and the food was very nice and reasonably priced. Staff were all friendly and helpful - can't fault the place at all....The kind of pub I definitely want to go back to with my better half one day so she can sample the 42 - yes 42 gins !More

Waited over 20mins then had to go find member of staff to take order. Another 20 before meal arrived. Portions very small children size although charged for large portion. Fish overcooked & very greasy. Asked young girl if portions were large she said yes, told...her then we wouldn't like to see small size. Place was packed, staff all very young & inexperienced. Definitely need more organisation & training on how to cope with large numbers. We didnt have pudding given the size of main meal we thought if same size portion it wouldnt be worth money. Very dissappointedMore

This was a great lunch venue. There was the choice of a full plate or a smaller portion at a reduced cost. Friendly staff served hot and tasty food. It was definitely worth the visit.

Wednesday night 7:30 and you are refused a table for two - really! All we got was a refusal saying they were too busy (didn’t look that way from the small numbers in the whole pub), we asked about a sandwich and we’re refused that...also - no helpful suggestions as to where to go, nothing. That lady has absolutely no concept of customer service and lacking in any self awareness. So I can’t speak for the food, as we didn’t get any, but the customer service was terrible. 5 miles to the nearest pub!More

We had our belated Christmas get together in January this year and despite the cold weather outside it was warm and welcoming within. Our rather large party was catered for excellently with food arriving on time nicely hot and well presented. We all had different...meals so the Welby staff had quite a task on their hands but coped very well. All in all a very enjoyable time at a lovely village inn.More

Returned after a break of some years. After a long walk, lunch at the pub was much appreciated. Busy for a Thursday lunchtime with a lot of diners. Food was served promptly by helpful friendly staff. Well kept real ale. A proper pub lunch.

We stayed two nights as we were attending a family funeral. As with our previous visit we found the Welby to be a lovely village pub. The bedroom was very comfortable with an en-suite shower, TV and a good heater. There is a good selection...of drinks and a varied menu of well-prepared and well-served dishes. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and it was a very enjoyable stay.More

I don’t think that a disable person would have any difficulty getting into the pub/restaurant as there is plenty of room but as for disabled toilet facilities I don’t know as I’ve not had the need to use the facilities.
