The restaurant is in old greenhouses just outside Leiden. Visited on a Sunday at lunchtime. Its very family friendly, so lots of kids. The food was good if not a little pricey. Service was mixed but friendly enough.

We stopped here on the way. It is close to Leiden, and situated on a beautiful lake with great seating. The food was fine and the place is nicely decorated. Easy free parking.

We were given a table in a very noisy place, next to the bar with a very high traffic, people, waitresses passing by, sounds of dishes glasses etc while there were other tables available. The table was not clean, we had to ask for it...to be cleaned. It took really long between serving the drinks and ordering food. The food was not warm enough while it was served and the quality vs price was pretty law. I had a feeling i came to a come-eat-go place. Poor hospitality.More

Cannot comment on food as I could not taste it but found the behaviour of waitress extremely rude. I had been there with my 7 year old son to celebrate father's day and had requested for a table for two. We were flatly declined and...were asked to pick up something from the takeaway joint nearby. The waitress didnot even bother to suggest on a waiting time incase we wanted to wait. I could see lots of couples after us being escorted in who also didnot have any reservations hence could not really fathom the behaviour. In my so many years of stay in Netherlands have not come across such a behaviour, may be waitress was having a bad day. Stay blessed.More

Three main dishes available for dinner that are (or can be made) vegan. Servers knew exactly which ones were vegan when we asked. The pulled oats madras curry was particularly tasty!

We coincidentally cycled along the Valkenburg Meer and decided to have dinner in this beautiful spot. Friendly service, no special food however, food selections for vegetarians as well as fish and meat lovers. I had the feelgood burger and can just say it was one...of the best I ever had. Juicy, delicious sauce and tasty fries - nothing for culinarios but very tasty with a perfect view over the lake. Two glass of Affrigen fitted very well. Perfect sunset later on with a bottle of red privately brought along at the sea shore with live music in the back from the buitenhuis cantina next door.More

Beautiful view on a sunny day, very nicely designed space, love hanging plants. Apart from that: 1. Poor hygiene. The cake ALWAYS stands open and uncovered right in front of the entrance/wc. On multiple visits, I saw the waiters using they hands placing food on...the plates, same hands that touch money, doors, etc. Utensils stand open on the tables, so you have no idea how many hands touched them before you. The place needs a better cleaning routine generally. Sticky furniture, flurries of dust.... 2. Ignorant unfriendly staff. Irritated stressed students who don’t care, don’t know the menu options, and generally couldn’t be bothered. Feels like a cantine, not a brasserie. 3. Bad coffee. Based on the taste, not from a real espresso machine, sour-ish foam on espresso... Considering the lovely location, i suppose the owners don’t have the real motivation to improve quality of service and staff training. They will still be full. I suggest sticking to simple foods they couldn’t touch much. Like a deep-fried snack and a bottled drink. Bad machine coffee is a real shame but oh well. Don’t order the cake that stands open next to the toilet.More

Place looks very nice inside. I went there just for a quick drink with my bf after spending some time at the beach. The waitress in the entrance wasn’t very friendly, I’ve been asked in quiete aggressive way if she could help me with something....The other staff were nice.More

We were delighted with the delicious vegan quinoa sushi roll, as well as the poke bowl. Both fresh and flavourful. The prices seem a bit high for the amount of food (6.25 EUR for one sushi roll sliced into 4 bite-sized pieces makes that more...than 1.50 EUR per bite), but the quality was good.More

Great location, nice venue, good food and friendly personnel! Only real drawback is the fact that it can be quite hard to get a table here on sunny days. Tip; reserve well in advance to secure seats.

This Sunday February 17th we enjoyed a great family luncheon at the Brasserie Buitenhuis. The staff is very attentive and the atmosphere was relaxed. Coffee, wine and food was tasty (except for the pulled chicken with spicy guacamole which nobody liked). We will certainly come...back.
