We walked to Kettlewell from Buckden and felt that we deserved a nice lunch and a drink. Stopped at the Blue Bell and sat outside in the sun. Great location! We ordered 2 x double gins and tonic, a glass of white wine and a...pint of bitter. The lovely barman warned us that it was going to be costly but wasn't expecting £43.00! This is a country, village pub, not one located in Central Leeds or London! We subsequently ordered food, which was lovely and priced sensibly. The pub is lovely, the staff pleasant and no criticism of the quality of food and drinks. But those drink prices will prevent us visiting again. There are other nearby pubs to choose from!More
Very friendly welcome. Lovely bar/restaurant area and the twin room was very nice. Food was excellent ( I had probably the best “steak and ale pie” I’ve ever had). Kimberley was an excellent host, very friendly and always smiling. Can’t wait to come back in...FebruaryMore
We turned up very damp after a long walk with two small dogs. It was mid week and midday, so quiet. We were greeted by a warm, clean, friendly environment. The hospitality from Geoff was outstanding and good chat about the rugby. We ordered drinks...and a sandwich each. Well what a sandwich, I don’t think I have ever seen one like it. It was enormous, stuffed full with beautiful homemade fish fingers. There were treats for the dogs too. If we had not had to catch the bus home, we would have stayed there all afternoon. Will definitely return to try other things on the menu. Thank you Geoff and to the chef. Please don’t leave this place, it would not be the same without you.More
Very friendly welcome and some nice beers to accompany the meal. Food - not so good: 3 out of 4 meals were barely warm and had to be sent back. The roast lamb was tasty but only came with potatoes and a tiny amount of...mashed swede - no greens at all. The chicken supreme was again accompanied only by potatoes and no veg whatsoever! The other 2 dishes were the same story - lots of farms around the area too!! Very ironic! This place is very average - I would not go again.More
Staff very friendly and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband had lamb shank and I had steak and ale pie, some of the best food we have had in a long time .
The mushroom risotta and the venison dinners were good, but I wish the venison had been more tender. Very nice red wine/chocolate sauce with it. Good wine list and service. Nice ambience and roaring fireplace. Parking on street.
Came here for dinner after a long day walking in the rain. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, food was amazing (the pie... 😍) and our dog was also well looked after. We stayed over the road but if we were to return to Kettlewell...we would definitely be booking a room here. Both left very full and prices 100% reasonable.More
Visited here three times during our stay in Kettlewell… twice for a meal. We couldn’t fault it at all. There were 7 of us and we all really enjoyed our food (especially the pie!). Service was good, staff really friendly, and all priced really well....Would definitely recommend.More
We visited here during the Scarecrow Festival and had a good meal. I had the duck which was delicious. I have to say the potatoes were not very nice which was disappointing. My daughter had a sausage sandwich M. The portions were huge, she couldn’t...eat it all. Service was quick and staff friendly.More
Friendly staff. Good range of beers. Lovely fish & chips & moules mariniere. All round a good experience. Lively pub atmosphere & very comfortable.
Fantastic value for money. Friendly and welcoming staff. Clean room & en suite, with good quality toiletries. Breakfast lovely. Plenty of choice on evening menu and food freshly cooked food. Will definitely return. Location also great with plenty of parking.
Fabulous food, great service despite being very busy. Would highly recommend the crispy halloumi burger with mushrooms onion rings and all the trimmings. Wine and beer also excellent 👍
It became a really busy lunchtime so I imagine some of the issues were to do with this, however it really wasn’t great I’m afraid. For balance, booking was easy and the person I spoke to was lovely. When we arrived there was nobody there...to let us know which table we should sit at - we had to wait at a busy bar for any clue. There was no high chair provided despite us having a toddler in our party. We waited over an hour for our food - I imagine because it’s fresh to order however we weren’t pre warned of this nor was there many people in the pub at the point we ordered although it soon filled up very quickly with a huge queue due to their order and pay at the bar system. The long wait with a little one was an issue, and I’m sure for anyone this is the case - and when the food arrived 50% of the meals were stone cold (albeit nicely presented). We were too hungry at this point to care in the moment. To top it off I would describe their prices as central Leeds restaurant - which is ludicrous given then are a country pub and by no means Gastro. Sorry but it’s a never again from usMore
After going round the village looking at the scarecrow festival we called in for a drink only. Very old pub dating from the 1600s, very pleasant with nice terrace
