Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had only a week in Magenisi so before going to the island I had carefully researched which restaurants we would eat in, Toboles being one of three first choices and in fact we ate here twice. The village of Katemori is a ten-minute walk...up the hill from the port of Vathy which has numerous places to eat with harbour views. Katemori has just three Tavernas with Toboles being on a quite lane up in the village next door to the brilliant village Kafenion, Pezoula. Neither have far reaching views but Toboles makes up for that with a nice atmosphere plus lovely food and service. They also, seemingly somewhat uniquely in our experience of the Tavernas in Vathy and Katomeri play Greek background music, so, no view but a great sense of place! Toboles is run by Adonis and his brother with I believe, their mother overseeing the kitchen. Not only is the food very good but they manage to balance the needs of locals and visitors with the same friendly service. Adonis is a super nice guy with an infectious laugh who explained the couple of dishes we were less familiar with. Good house wine, juicy pork from the grill and great baby squid were among the dishes we enjoyed over two visits. In addition to the very tasty food Toboles also offers excellent value. As well as tables inside the Taverna it has a small terrace overlooking the lane and a pleasant space at the side of the building which is decorated with an evocative mural of the village lanes, this is where we chose to eat. I believe when the season gets into full swing there are tables in the lane as well. We are looking forward to going back to Toboles as part of our plan to establish a first and last night ‘tradition’ on the island. If we are lucky enough to go again for longer than a week then next time we will eat here more often! Ian & ElaineMore

Good place for a drink and lunch and it has a nice friendly owner. We did have a evening meal one evening but can’t say it was great to be honest however still worth a visit.

We loved eating here, great food, great local atmosphere and tucked away on the narrow paved streets of Katomeri. Toboles is open most of the year so its great if you're visiting out of season. If you're visiting in warmer weather then Toboles has a...delightful outdoor space nestled between Katomeri's charming stone-built cottages. A must if you're staying on Meganisi.More

This was my favourite place to eat on Meganissi. Tucked away at the top of the hill it’s hidden from the busier scenes of Vathi. The food was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. We visited for lunch twice during our 1 week stay on the...island but would have gone back again if we had more time. The owner was very welcoming, the food and drink can’t be faulted and the price was excellent. Not to mention the beautifully painted wall that makes a feature of the outside area.More

A lovely, quaint little place in the middle of one of the island's villages. Family-run, it's where you'll find tourists and locals sitting next to each other. They serve lovely meze (Greek tapas) with a smile and local flair. Service can be a little slow...at busy times/days but that can just about pass as part of the local's laid back style. Highly recommended!More

If you want to visit a Greek taverna that is traditional and how they were before tourism took over this is the place to go. It is in Katomeri hidden away among the houses and next to a coffee shop. The menu isn’t huge but...there are most of the usuals as well as a daily special. The food was good, service attentive without being intrusive and you cannot beat this place for a real Greek atmosphere. There is also an explanation of the restaurants history in the menu which is a very interesting read. If you love the real Meganisi then you will love Toboles.More

It is the Music, which is a little too loud, the couleurs on the wall, which are a litte too intensive and the good food, which is a little too much, what makes this place special and unique! The people are very nice and the prices are fair.

A simply gorgeous little traditional bar. Take a look inside - it’s beautiful, then admire the pretty courtyard with stunning mural painted on the walls. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome by the guys who run the place and reasonably priced drinks. Fellow guests staying at...the same hotel as us recommended this place, and we’re so glad they did.More

This place is a real find. Run by the grand children of the original owner, this was according to the blurb on the menu, the first guest house on Meganisi. It closed after the owner and his brother died and was derelict for many years...before the family reopened it in 2013. The decor on the terrace is bright primary colours with a fabulous mural of the village providing a superb photo wall. The traditional Greek menu is excellent, well cooked and large portions. For lunch, We had grilled calamari (a whole one) and a Greek salad with a generous supply of sweet tomatoes and a huge slab of feta. With bread three beers and a half litre of house wine all included in the €39 bill, I can’t remember a better Greek mealMore

What a little gem this place is. We popped in early evening and was seated in the side courtyard. It’s decorated so beautiful and is such a nice place to sit and relax. The guy who served us was really nice and helpful too. Would...definitely recommend the drunkard sausage! Will return.More
