When we walked in we were greeted by friendly efficient staff and loud dogs barking. We enjoyed a drink in the bar in spite of the barking and owner shouting at the dogs. We all enjoyed our meals very much. Freshly cooked, great menu. The staff were really friendly without being intrusive. Upon leaving there were two men outside, possibly smoking,... More

We stopped at Lanes Hotel for coffee and a bacon sandwich half way through a 10k walk around the local countryside. Both were great - and the chips that came with the bacon sandwich were the best I have tasted in a long time! Highly recommended.

Food was nicely done and staff very friendly. Reasonable value but not exceptional. Perfect for an unfussy meal

Arrived to meet a friend for lunch and was seated in the bar area to look at menus. Decided on ordering from the lunch time Prix Fixe menu. Immediately disappointed with my choice of Gravlax from a point of portion and value compared with my fellow diners twice baked soufflé. The salmon could have been fitted on a canapé and... More

I stayed overnight here and had dinner in the restaurant. The vegetarian choices were limited, but the salmon fishcake with spinach sauce was good, followed by the rhubarb crumble cheesecake and ginger ice cream - very good :)

Visited Lanes for dinner on a Saturday night for the first time in a long time. There was only 3 other used tables in the restaurant and a function in the other room. The service from the bar and waiting staff was very good, they were all friendly and attentive and the bar and dining area had a good atmosphere... More

Having eaten once again at Lanes last Saturday I have to say how wonderful the experience was. Everything is consistently excellent from menu choices to food quality and attention to detail combined with super service always makes this a place you leave wanting to return. I look forward to that soon. Well done and thank you.

We booked Lanes restaurant for my 30th birthday meal years past has always been great food, a brilliant atmosphere and lovely setting. Where did it all go wrong?? We were asked when booked to pre order for our table of 13 which was absolutely fine. We emailed a comprehensive list of what everyone wanted. We were asked to be seated... More

Honestly the worst place I've ever eaten, terrible food, service was pretty poor also, was absolutely appalled by my mix grill main course, just a load of poorly cooked bone dry meat slapped on my plate with a bowl of chips on the side, didn't even ask how I wanted my steak cooked, was all tough and dry. I've genuinely... More

I arranged afternoon tea here for my mums birthday. I was rather underwhelmed to be seated in a dingy, very poorly decorated lounge area, I thought we had just been sat there whilst they made our table up but when they brought the stands in I realised that where we had to eat, off very low sofa with a coffee...
