Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner, it was a very quiet little pub but when my friend called in advanced they told us that we were not able to reserve tables although when we went into the pub there were tables that...were reserved. They had also told us we weren’t able to bring dogs but we saw people outside with a dog as well as someone bringing their dog inside. This was a bit strange. Although the pizza here was very nice and I think it was reasonably priced although it was quite a thin pizza. Other than that I think this pub is a nice place if you want to go somewhere quiet and peaceful for dinner or drinks.More

If you love Pizza then you won't be disappointed but that's all there is. No sides, garlic bread, salad etc. We went on a Saturday Night and there was one poor lad serving whilst the owner sat in the other closed off bar smoking a...cigar. The queue was mad and once our order was taken it was at least a 25 min wait. The owner has no regard to customer service and unfortunately this is the only eatery in the village so no competition! Oh and it's only open Friday & Saturday. I gave it 2 stars as the pizzas were excellent.More

What a beautiful place to find in the heart of Wiltshire. The food is authentically Italian along with the owner. The wine selection beats any top end London restaurant. Well worth the visit

During our holidays and after visiting Stonehenge we were cruising the country. Hungry! And by accident we ended up here. What a surprise it was! Excellent food (we ate no pizza) and wines! Very pleasant people.

We love this wonderful restaurant for Ricardo and the magnificent dishes that make up a memorable meal here. We love the fact that we don’t have to choose from a menu, instead just enjoy wonderful wines and course after course from the kitchen. Tonight was...10 dishes over three hours and time to talk, enjoy the garden, take in the atmosphere. No rush. Wonderful!More

This Italian restaurant is in a charming setting. We sat outside to enjoy the evening summer weather. Very friendly and welcoming service. The pizzas were excellent. Our group of four each had a different order and each was traditionally prepared and are highly recommended.

Staff were very friendly and polite, the food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious, the whole family enjoyed. We sat out the front and enjoyed the sunshine but there is also a lovely garden and seating inside. Dogs are also welcome. Thank you to...everyone at rose and crown for a lovely experience.More

The food was probably a higher score than 3, but I’m rating the whole experience. We did not realise that this restaurant only provided a set menu , which was neither on display or priced! We were seated and the chef proceeded to run through...the menu which was basically fish, fish and more fish with pork as the main attraction. None of our party was particularly keen on fish, but as he said “ if you don’t like , I’ll cook something else,”( as long as it’s fish!🤦🏻‍♀️)He did ask us if we liked pizza and we all enthusiastically said yes we love it , as previous reviews had raved about the authentic pizza, but unfortunately a pizza never appeared at our table , although it was served at the bar!! My daughter and I were offered wine , we expected a glass each but a bottle was slammed down on the table, it was lovely as was the majority of the food , but the experience left me feeling that I’d walked into an Italians house and was gently bullied into eating whatever he was having for dinner! I feel that the conditions of dining here should be loud and clear that you have no choice. Although he states no set menu , other customers were offered exactly the same food and as I now look at reviews it’s been the same for years! It’s like playing Russian roulette with your debit card!!More

Excellent Pizzas We are lucky to live within walking distance of Al Boocan do vino (Tilshead) and popped down to order 2 pizzas this evening. We ordered a Margherita and a Funghi and 5 minutes later they were done. A quick walk home and we...were sat eating the best Italian pizza we have ever had. Absolutely delicious, delizioso! The Funghi pizza was loaded with a variety of mushrooms and both were packed with mozzarella. At £12-£14 each, they were excellent value for money too.More

Didn't expect the pub to do pizzas so was a surprise and they were brilliant. Not sure of any other pizza restaurants around here but would highly recommend! The beer was Doom Bar which was also nice!

We’re lucky enough to know Riccardo and the superb Al Boccon Venetian Wedding Feast concept from its origins at Richmond, and it delights me to be able to confirm it has travelled very well out to Wiltshire. All the elements are there - a panoply...of at least a dozen beautifully conceived and prepared courses of simple Italian cuisine, introduced and served with his inimitable panache by the Propietor. From peppers to truffled pasta to aubergines to langoustines to scallops, building cleverly to the masterpiece of roast suckling pig, served juicily with its unique thin crackling and potatoes. My choice of dessert was the proper, homemade Tiramisu, served in a glass jar. From previous experience we took our host’s recommendations for the various complementary wines to enjoy as the courses unfolded - each one introduced with a knowledgeable flourish, then Riccardo slammed the Grappa glasses on the table and we knew we’d made it to the finishing line! It’s crazy, but trust me - it works. The grub is exemplary and the experience itself is beyond theatre - it’s almost like a Magic Show!More

Like this was just amazing, divine, delicious, entertaining, shoot-the-lights-out stop the bus I wanna get on board, incredible.. I was won over when the food arrived but blown over when we were asked did we want some more of the most delicious wafer-thin Parma ham,...sweet as can be melon and freshly chargrilled antipasto. I think I then hit food-heaven, died & was reborn as an Italian! Unforgettable is what this was..would I come again?, chained to wild horses & dragged backward couldn't stop me.. You bet you should visit!..More

We were looking for somewhere for lunch on our journey home and came across this pub. They said they did pizzas at lunch and amazingly said they did gluten free ones too. I was SO happy. I've got coeliac disease so don't often get a...pizza. When it came, it was huge and absolutely delicious..possibly the best GF one I've ever had. The 'normal' pizzas were just as lovely ( according to my husband and children), so I would highly recommend! 10/10!!More

Amazing pizzas. We popped in for lunch and probably had the best pizzas we've ever tasted. So fresh and really tasty. The staff were very friendly and engaging. All topped off with a beautiful garden and covered outdoor eating area. Well worth a visit.

Not in the traditional sense. It's very much what they are serving on the day but they do have suckling pig on Sundays but I haven't had this or heard of anyone who has.

You can perfectly pop in for a pint: there’s the restaurant at the left, and a pub on the right.
