Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Heard lots of positive comments from friends about their roast dinner and decided to go today and they were right. The most generous and delicious roast I’ve had in any pub in Sussex. I couldn’t fault any of it and the staff were spot on...as well. Plus the landlord was dishy. Highly recommend.More

Sunday Lunch with all the trimmings and tons of gravy. If that is not enough crumbles and treacle sponges for puddings. And custard. For the fainter hearted there are other options! Friendly efficient service. Ou regular choice.

Local pub for local people- proper local pub for beers etc - trying to attract people for the food offering - pretty basic food - but was ok and filled a gap. Beer not well kept and pretty flat.

Bar staff were sweet but clearly short staffed and couldn’t manage serving at bar and tables. 45 minutes wait for food that wasn’t that tasty to be honest. Potatoes clearly frozen, cauliflower cheese overcooked and cabbage also looked frozen. Meat wise you only got 2...slices - for just short of £18 a roast I’d expect a lot betterMore

Visited several times recently for both lunch and dinner, so nice to be welcomed by a friendly owner and serving good food by genuinely friendly staff. Very popular pub and it deserves to be.

Based on the favourable reviews my wife and I took a detour from our walk along the River Arun to have an impromptu lunch. There was a very friendly vibe as I ordered drinks at the bar. We placed our food order - it took...quite a time for the food to arrive although this was not a problem as we were in no hurry. My wife ordered a baked Camembert with a side salad - this was from the selection of starters and came up large. She has a small appetite and this was more than ample to provide for a filling meal. I went for home cured ham and eggs on a bed of bubble and squeak. This was an interesting mélange off ingredients - including stuffing which made it more savoury. I very much enjoyed this meal - it really hit the spot. We didn’t have enough room for desserts although there was plenty of hot and cold options if we had. We found the staff to be particularly friendly and helpful. It made for a very pleasant dining experience.More

We called in for a quick drink on a very hot Sunday. The young staff were very friendly and helpful. The pub garden had a large shaded area so we decided to order food. The service was very quick and our meals arrived piping hot...in 15 minutes. The vegetarian nut roast was superb accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables and delicious cauliflower cheese.More

Hello you don't have to book lunchtimes but I would always advise ringing first to check they have not got a private function on. There is a small car park .
