First time here to celebrate my birthday. Very nice surroundings in the middle of nature. Service from the beginning to the end was impeccable. We chose the tasting menu with wine pairing. The waitress explained the menu and the theme - that was unusual -...all dishes made with a certain bitterness. That is risky as with any of the 5 tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami anyone can be well done or not - and to have one theme throughout an entire meal can be a challenge. And here is where it becomes "courageous" - the chef has to be courageous for composing the meals and not overdo it - the customer has to be courageous for surrendering to the choice of the chef. If you do not have that courage - go for a la carte instead of the tasting menu. We surrendered - and happy for our choice. A flow of very well-prepared dishes was professionally presented and enjoyed. Chef Klugmann composed wonderful dishes from vegetables such as eggplant with blackberries, sole with local herbs (very local indeed such as sclopit) to sweetbread with radicchio - all dishes with a scent of bitterness obtained from different ingredients. Even the dessert, a crema catalana, was slightly bitter from the charred sugar that usually is brown caramel but here slightly and purposely burnt. In the wine pairing, we went for the very local wines and the sommelier knew her wines! Every wine was well chosen and pairing was not easy due to the bitterness theme - but with absolute success. It was also a pleasure to taste excellent quality bread and grissini.  This is not a place just to go and eat - this is an experience of surrender to the culinary intelligence of Chef Klugmann. Well done!More

15 on a scale of 1-10, hard to imagine a finer dining experience, our absolute #1 favorite during two weeks of sampling exceptional food and wine in the Friuli, Alto Adige and Veneto wine regions of Italy. A "must" for anyone seeking the pinnacle of...food, service, wine pairing, setting and ambience. We cannot rave more strongly about the amazing experience we had -- well worth seeking out (you MUST reserve in advance). A well orchestrated, relaxed and rare experience.More

This time we did not do the searching just wanted to take our chances in the two days we had in the area. Stopped to take a look as we drove by and based on the staff we talked to, the ambiance and the menu...we have made a reservation for the next day. These guys are professionals, every one of them. Innovative food with local ingredients, mostly nice presentation, good wine pairing. The Chef and her team deserve the Michelin star.More

Want to be a Michelin star restaurant? Guess it is not the right way to do it. Food? We all tried a twelve course menu with local wine pairing. First dish was ok, but…afterwards food became mediocre, not fitting even for a trattoria locale (where...you definety can find better food) Presentation: one would not expect from a restaurant?! Service: the joke how much (minimal) you can (or you) should refill a wine glass would win the contest. Either intentional or not, also the presentation of someone with 3rd stage of wine expert, one would not expect. Overall, not worth even visiting, an applogy from the manager or better a refound would be probably in place.More

This was a treat for my husband's birthday. We went to L' Argine trying to keep an open mind as this was our first time in a starred restaurant. Such a great atmosphere, excellent service and wonderful food. Thank you Ms Klugmann and everyone at...L' Argine, you made us feel at home and we enjoyed our lunch very much!More

Chef Antonia Klugmann’s love of her terroir cannot be doubted for a second. The tasting menu at L’Argine a Venco is creative as expected from a Michelin starred establishment yet you always feel that this is more than anything an Italian meal. Her spaghetto, a...strawberry spaghetti served with tomato sauce and the aubergine appetizer are quirky twists on Italy’s best loved foods, pasta and parmiggiana melanzane. And the sweetbreads is the absolute highlight, and the meal ending petite fours were also fantastic. The local wine pairing is a good choice although especially the early whites definitely have very heavy sweet notes about them. The finishing red is a great choice though and even a cheeky beer is snuck in for some creative variety. The staff is clearly more used to local clientele, nonetheless they make sure that their international guests also have a great time. And chef Klugmann is an absolute delight if you are lucky to be able to meet her, she happily signs her book and has a chat. Her humble yet very professional attitude and personality shines through her dishes and her Michelin star is very well deserved.More

We went there for our anniversary, had a lovely dinner, with excellent wines, and even we were in Italy, the Italian waitress spoke in Slovene, witch was really amaizing. We spent the night there, worth the visit, price of dinner and room was really good...considering the quality. Highly recommend.More

We had a really wonderful family lunch at L’Argine a Venco. The service is wonderful and our party of 11 was seated slightly away from other diners which suited us. Food was interesting, delicious and different and paired with wines that were local and inspiring....Clearly both the cellar and the kitchen are managed with real passion. We especially loved the use of local herbs in many dishes that gave our meal a really unique feel. The restaurant that Antonia has created is a delight; even if you’ve never watched Italian Masterchef and think of her as a celebrity.More

We spent a great evening all by ourselves at this very sympathetic place: Great evironment Great Architecture Great Cooking Great Service The Management complied with all my extra desires in the most competent way. A very memorable evening! PS: it is surprising to notice that...bad ratings are exclusively coming from Italians with the most bizarre arguments.More

No, not the physical restaurant, thats in or near Friuli-Venezia. The food, the wines, the entourage - those were out of this world and phenomenal. Take the entire trip - portions are never scary and always satisfying to the max. The chef is a star...- she runs the kitchen like a gentle goddess. Was a pleasure to watch. Go and book a weekend around this. Did i mention the wines? The sommelier takes u on a trip to remember - vin nature included and of ecceptional quality.More

We really looked forward to visit the restaurant for the second time. All ten dishes of the tasting menu were different from our first visit in September 2017 and again exceptional. One of the planned dishes of the menu was kindly replaced on our request...with the Risotto, as we wanted to taste it again. The Risotto was special and excellent as the previous one. With the selection of wine the dishes were even more delightful. Since we also rented a room, I would like to mention an excellent breakfast, the content of which was from local producers and served individually. We highly recommend the visit.More

Another outstanding experience! Antonia Klugmann surprised us again with a great menu and this time with an even greater wine selection. Without going into any details: we like the setting, we like the friendly personnel, we like what we are getting offered to eat from...creative modern cooking. It surpises us positively every time again, even if not every course is meeting our taste (my wife complained about one she did not really like). Hope to be there soon again!More

The restaurant is located in a beautiful rural environment. All the ten dishes of the menu "Life in Motion" were exceptional, but for us the winning dish was Risotto with spinach, Parmigiano sauce, grappa, olive oil and juniper (on our desire one of the planned...dishes of the menu was kindly replaced with this one). The selection of wine was delightful (thanks Romano), we tried out a range of local wines whose tastes were all married to the food. We would like to thank Chef Antonia and the entire team for their kindness and a really special evening.More

We visited l'argine a venco' in January and tasted several other premiere restaurants around the world before writing a review. Antonia's cuisine experience is a masterpiece from the start to the end . Make sure you get the full tasting menu with wines wisely chosen...by antonia's husband (pardon me if he's not). The team in the kitchen is very well diversified and we could see from the table (wisely, they have very few) they were enjoying their job and that was really a feel from the courses. I tasted the best finocchio (fennel) of my life along with a perfect baccalà. At the end of the dinner antonia joined her guests for catch up on the dishes. Hopefully , antonia's Masterchef experience won't change the beauty of the experience argine a venco offers. We will for sure come back! We're not giving out any suggestion on dishes and other stuff. Just one thing, the price / quality ratio is GREAT!More
