Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Popped by for a nosh 'n natter for two. Pleasant enough High Street premises, convenient, contemporary & quite comfortable, with a bright bar & two eateries, cafè and restaurant areas. No "Musak," oh joy! Reception was smooth enough but service a tad on the slow side, for a quiet, rainy mid-week afternoon. Things soon livened up though, when a large party arrived, complete with lively kids rushing about the place. Sigh! Fair enough range of drinks were available and the menu offered a fair selection with price reflecting fair enough value. Our "posh burgers" were very tasty, with all the trimmings, but with unimaginative chips. All in all, certainly no complaints, but equally, little to really compliment.

Nicely decorated and the service is OK in here. We had 6 tapas dishes between 2 of us (women) and we went home hungry. The portions sizes for £7+ per dish is overpriced for the amount that you get and the food was just luke warm. There were only about 3 or 4 tables taken in the restaurant due to COVID etc, so its not like they were rushed off their feet so Im not sure why the food was tepid but we were so hungry we just ate it. It could be so much better if the portions were a little bigger and hotter. On a lighter note, the staff (especially the bar man) were always using the hand santizers which is great.

We had a fab meal at the Refinery. Food was really tasty. I had tapas and my partner had sirloin steak. Tapas you got plenty of food and the sirloin steak was a huge portion of steak and home cooked chunky chips. Steak was cooked exactly how my partner had asked for it to be done. Kids meals were also really good. The service was brilliant, really friendly staff and really attentive. Possibly the best service we’ve had in a long time so some of these reviews really do surprise me. It’s a shame I don’t remember the waitresses name to be able to give her a mention but she was really good, checking everything was ok, getting everything we asked for quickly and clearing plates swiftly, and yet the restaurant was pretty busy with it being the last night for 50% off. I would say at full price the food is a little bit expensive, not sure the steak would be worth £22 (with sauce) but I’d definitely be willing to pay £16-£17. Would definitely recommend trying!

We waited an HOUR for our food. It arrived undercooked and cold (potatoes, parsnips etc). Meat was stone cold and really chewy, too. One tiny pot of gravy between seven. Staff didn’t care; apologised when we explained then walked off. The only person to care was the bar manager when we came to pay the bill. Massive disappointment of an inedible Sunday lunch.

Came here yesterday and very disappointed. Waited a very long time for food, despite the restaurant being very empty. We ordered a pizza and it had so many toppings on which wasn’t on the menu, and even missed things off it was meant to have?! We ordered a side of the chips which didn’t come with the rosemary on either. And for the side salad, it was £4 and was a tiny bowl containing only salad leaves. We actually couldn’t believe they served it us. Other meals which the rest of our party ordered were nothing special either. Really disappointed as the last time we came it was great. Biggest waste of money and we are really disappointed. Ruined our evening.

The food was band and nice drinks and warm atmosphere but food was bland and poor and over priced. As we were placed at our table we were told it was special 35% off for today (Thursday), but my husband didn’t like his food and hardly touched it (beef burger with bacon) and we told the waitress and she came with the bill and said she gave us 35 % off as my husbands food wasn’t touched, but I told her she already told us that there was 35% off today and she lied to us and said to us no 35% off is only Monday to Wednesday, my husband checked the menu there and then and saw it states on the menu 35% off Monday to Thursday. But we still paid the bill just disappointed she lied to us, bad service. Not going back.

Nice interior and busy on Friday night. Food though is awful. Salted cod fritter tapas starter, had ridiculous amounts of salt, you could taste nothing else, and was 95% potato. Bang Bang cauliflower was deep fried and just tasted of oil. Main course pizza ok but Buddha bowl was straight out of a fridge, far to cold and bland. Shame because it's a nice place for a drink, and with West Bridgeford generally so good for eateries this place won't survive serving up this kind of poor food.

Busy atmosphere which was encouraging but the food was not up to standard. Pil pil sizzling prawns served lukewarm. These were heated up again when we pointed it out and were taken off the bill. Fair enough. However, main course of belly pork was a disaster with soft crackling that was impossible to cut into and meat that had not had the fat rendered down properly. Seemed as though it had been cooked in a water bath rather than slow roasted. Lasagne was good though. We will return for drinks but not food.

Visited here on Bank Holiday Monday for breakfast. We booked online which was easy to do, however received no email confirming the booking. Quite a few options for food on the menu which was nice. The food was all presented beautifully. Staff were quick to take our orders, checked in on us whilst eating and cleared away in great time. I was given the wrong order to start with - ordered eggs royale and was given eggs benedict - however the staff were quick and had no issue changing this. Worth a visit if in the area.

Really disappointed with our meal. We had high hopes after a friend recommend it to us and the positive Google reviews. We felt the service was slow and wouldn’t recommend the tapas. The portions were small and poor quality. Considering there are a number of good restaurants in west bridgford the refinery fell below par. They forgot our order and bought out burnt calamari and suggested this was due to the type of batter used (however they did recognise this and did refund us for this). The only highlight was the interior of the restaurant and the cocktails / wine provided. Currently would not recommend :(

Food delicious, service rude! We were made to feel like a huge inconvenience. Firstly, the food really was delicious and the environment was clean, calm and a nice option for lunch. Sadly, those are all the positives. We were served by two people, one of which seemed hugely annoyed by the fact we had prams and babies with us and the other who had no patience for us working out the bill. One lady said, “I thought you said there were less pushchairs than this?” We had booked for 8 ladies and 8 babies. Two cancelled in our group this morning and we called to let them know. We ended up with 3 prams and 6 babies. I was feeding my son, wrestling with my purse and trying to work out the amount I needed to pay when he said, “why don’t you just actually work it out and then I’ll come back,” and walked off. There were maybe 3 other tables in and he was definitely not in a rush. If you can’t accommodate babies, families or pushchairs then say and we’ll find somewhere else. I’ll return for food because it was so good but I won’t feel welcome there with my son or our antenatal group again.

Went for the Bottomless Tapas evening. From arrival we were greeted and our table was already preset with olives and dip, with fresh bread (focaccia etc) served within minutes, really good. We then ordered from the wide range of available dishes (c12-15 from memory) and the food arrived soon after. It was good as it arrived as tapas should, when each dish is ready. The calamari, chorizo and Lamb Kofte were my favourites but all the dishes were excellent. The drinks were lovely, I had beer (they serve a fantastic local IPA on draft) and wine (from an extensive list) with the food. Soon the live acoustic music began who were clearly a well experienced duo. The music was a nice added bonus up the evening. It wasn’t too intrusive, ie. you could still chat away. We didn’t have room for desert as we had reordered our favourite dishes again! A great night and have booked in for the next one in September.

I had one of the best Christmas meals that I can remember. Prawn Cocktail, Turkey and pigs in blankets and the most generous cheese board. Fair play and really appreciated at a time of year that you often expect sub-standard food.

Easy to book online, super friendly staff and delicious meals. The tapas, chicken burger and fish and chips were delicious and big portions. Lovely setting too and plenty of room to socially distance.

Hottest day of the year - stopped in for a light lunch but the set lunch menu was so good, and so cheap, ended up having three courses. Beef salad, Caesar salad and lemon posset - all in for £15. Incredible. Beautiful food, immaculately presented by a really enthusiastic team. Honestly, an absolute gem of a place which I cannot recommend highly enough
