Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I am here weekly and on the whole I enjoy my visits. There is a lovely atmosphere, the service is good and the tea is nice. I sometimes order a croissant, and the last 2 out of 3 times it has been dry, as if...at the end of its life. Would be great if the staff could be more aware of this and remove items once they are past their best, as they are not cheap.More

Great cafe, the staff are always so friendly and make excellent coffee. Shame they have been having WiFi issues recently, last 4 weeks or so, making it unsuitable to work from and I'm sure gives the staff a headache apologising to customers all the time....Hopefully will be fixed soon!More

Last visited about three years ago, I enjoyed my latest trip to the Press Room - the cafe (one of 30+ in this caffeine-soaked suburb) with the people-watching stools in the window. The tables have been rejigged, so there are more smaller tables for two,...rather than the big shared 'kitchen tables' originally installed when it opened 10 years ago. Gone are the perspex barriers at the counter. It's recently changed owners, but the standards have been maintained and it feels confident and settled. The staff (aren't they always) are key to the vibe. They are bright, smiley and welcoming. It's a real asset to the town.More

I visited The Press Room on Sunday just gone. What a buzzy little place it is. Being a decaf drinker, I can confirm they have great decaf coffee beans. WIN! Dine in, was a decaf oat milk latte (Oatly - Barista edition) & it was...so good I decided to get a take out, decaf oat milk mocha. To get asked at the till...“Do you want that to be white, milk or dark chocolate?“. I loved that bit. An extra twist to their service. I went for dark and my goodness, was it yummmyyy! They even showcase local artists work, such as @angus_creative (IG account) as shown in photo. I do love a local cafe which supports local artists. 👌🏼 Brownie point there. What's in the paper bag? You may ask...it was a vegan brownie protein ball from @purposefoods_official (IG account). 10/10. I've given 4* because I didn't have a sandwich etc, so I can't give a review on the food. Plus, when I went to order a half price coffee for take out, with the jubilee deal, it was only for hot coffee, no iced coffee / matcha / chai. But saying that, I was very happy with my Mocha in the end. 😊More

Really friendly and attentive staff. The coffee and food/pastries are always really nice and unlike a lot of cafes when they're busy, the staff somehow keep the tables consistently neat and tidy no matter how many customers are in the building. The interior has a...good amount of power sockets for a laptop worker such as myself, and I've found it's a great place to sit down and work if you need a place to focus. Would argue it's the best cafe in Surbiton, so fully recommend!More

I visit The Press Room regularly - for take away coffee and to pop in for a cake whilst I'm doing some work. The staff are so welcoming, explaining what's available and how to check in on their track and trace system. It's a small...cafe so they have a system where they like you to wait and ensure others are seated so there aren't too many people walking around. The food selection is limited - some toasted brioche buns, pastries and cakes. But it's definitely a case of quality over quantity. The brioche toasted buns are yummy as are the cakes! Their coffee is fantastic, I also enjoy their smoothies as a refreshing change. As I work here regularly - they really don't mind if you sit in for a few hours (I obviously keep topped up on coffees and smoothies). The seating is comfortable and wifi is strong.More

I've always loved The Press Room and the staff work so hard especially during the busy EOTHO times. The host with red hair completes four peoples jobs at once and it is constant work. Also delicious food and coffee - thank you all so much!

I went into The Press Room expecting the outstanding and positive service they always proudly advertise and was left disappointed and disgusted, clearly this fantastic service they speak of is something they preach but do not practise. The service was below what I expect from...any coffee shop, unenthusiastic and unconfident people take your order with no sense of happiness or desire to please customers. I was barely looked at let alone spoken to in a kind manner. I ordered a cappuccino, reluctantly as the price was somewhat expensive, and was immediately shocked by how watery and foul tasting it was. Definitely wasn’t worth the money. The atmosphere is poor and forgettable, there is no personality or reason to keep this place in mind for future visits and it’s definitely not worth your money. I wouldn’t recommend.More

There were hardly any seats to be had on this very grey November weekday so thought it must be good and I’d give it a try. Coffee was very underwhelming I’m sorry to say (Americano) but the service was nice and food looked good. They...could do with. A bigger premises; it was friendly and clearly popular but it was kind of packed in there!More

Lovely little place that has interesting decor, vast selection of hot drinks (including lots of choice of loose leaf tea for any tea lover!!), great sandwiches and cakes too. Staff all very accommodating and even gave a customer beside me a voucher for making a...mistake with his order. Even dog friendly! Definitely would visit again.More

When the sun shines, The Press Room - close to Surbiton station - folds back its front windows and opens out to greet the world. This chummy little independent coffee shop in the heart of Surbiton does excellent sweet and savoury food, good coffee (it...isn't cheap - but quality isn't) and teas. I would have to say that the teas are a little overpriced, although they do come with their own individual hourglass timer on a little wooden tray. It's a good meeting point, although the smaller tables really are small, to cram as many people in as possible. A good buzz.More
