Having eaten here on previous trips to Camber we were aware of the nice food on offer from the Galivant. We were due to stay for a week in Camber and wanted to pre book our first night meal here. My wife phoned 3 times...More

Apart from the fact that we were with friends & family & we enjoy ourselves wherever we go, this place really tried our patience. We had called the restaurant a few days before to make a reservation for 10 for lunch but there was no...More

I visited with 2 friends and our 3 dogs... we were made very welcome and the staff even brought us some dog beds so that we could relax and enjoy our meal in peace. The food was amazing and the bin end wine selection was...More

We booked to stay overnight and chose to dine at the restaurant which we found to be excellent, as was the service.

Surprising good dining e perience. Tasty food and nice presentation. Reasonable prices for the SE. Better still, my daughter and her husband had secretly paid in advance! All good.

This is a very lovely place to have dinner in what is not a high class part of the world. The room is rustic and full of wood but this hides some very good and sophisticated cooking. It is not hearty and large in portion...More

Our group all enjoyed our meal at the Gallivant, with a few reservations. We comprised two vegetarians, a meat-eater with a dairy intolerance and a very hungry individual (more about him later). We had advised the restaurant of dietary restrictions well in advance of our...More

8 of us had a Friday lunch here during the heatwave of June! It was cool and welcoming after a gorgeous morning walk on the beach. Our lady Sommelier was charming and the menu exciting. It was easy to book and they were very accommodating...More

We struggled to get a table at The Gallivant during our week's stay in Camber but, sadly, once we had succeeded in doing so, we were largely unimpressed. Portions are meagre (particularly the soup!) the food pretentious and the service largely indifferent. This is a...More

So disappointed. Thought this place would be great. I'm not even annoyed or anything actually. Just bewildered, out of pocket and hungry. The FOH team were lovely, just utterly inexperienced.

Hi, dogs can stay at the Gallivant but cannot go into restaurant. If the weather is nice, they can sit outside on the terrace. The rooms that are dog-friendly were a bit 'tired', but there were plans to renovate. Would be... More

With a Scandinavia/New England feel, the Gallivant is a calm, informal and relaxing place to dine, located a short stroll from the rolling dunes of award-winning Camber Sands and its miles of pristine coastline and just over an hour and a half from central London. The focus is on serving delicious food locally sourced with some 95% of fresh ingredients coming from the fishermen and farmers who live and work within 10 miles. Menus follow the seasons and include a daily special lunch menu as well as a la carte and gourmet tasting menus - dishes may include rack of Romney salt marsh lamb or fillet of sea bass with creamed leeks, salsify and oyster beignets. The wine list is abundant and includes a selection of sensibly priced local English cuvees, international red and whites as well as pudding and cheese pairings.
