A village pub, dates from 1711. The Sun Inn is a traditional Lakeland inn with stone floors and roaring fires in the winter, it began life as a row of cottages, the occupants of one of them served beer to travellers from a front room. Traditional, atmospheric, friendly run, dog and child friendly pub, in the beautiful setting of Crook, just outside of Kendal, within the beautiful Lake District and only five miles from Lake Windermere. If you’re a walker, or someone who simply likes riding around the lakes in the car, the Sun Inn is the place for you. With plenty of parking, and immediate access to numerous easy, scenic, and low level walks, very close to Lake Windermere not far from Kendal,

Pauline & her staff give you a great service and serve fantastic food. Another bonus is they are very dog friendly, your pooch is given a rug to lie on and treats as soon as you arrive. Would highly recommend. JAT

Was looking forward to this fish and chip special as we had already had a very good Sunday roast here. We were disappointed as fish and chips were too crispy so very solid so need good teeth! Tartar sauce and service very good though.
Very lovely people and service I had fish and chips came as a wale and chips amazing couldn’t eat it all but gave it a good try well worth a visit thanks

We Called in around 6.30PM on a Wednesday evening at The Sun without a prior booking while looking for a suitable place for a forthcoming Big Birthday Family Celebration meal.
A warm greeting was received and a table quickly found for our family of three...and the pub was already busy with both drinkers and diners.
Good choice of food on both The Menu and the Specials Board. Also Good selection of ales and drinks on offer and always a nice touch that all ordering of food and drink is done at your table.
Drinks arrived within minutes of ordering and piping hot food arrived about ten minutes later which was all well cooked and plentiful ( The one plate of Fish & Chips alone could of fed all three of us!!).
Fantastic proper Lake District Country Village Pub and run very well with a modest amount of staff. The lady running the bar and doing food orders and all the serving never stopped working and been attentive to all the customers in the hour we were there.
Very impressed. Booked there and then for forthcoming big birthday family meal at the end of June and looking forward to it already.More

We absolutely love it here, from the service, to the scenic drive and the the FOOD of course. We make the 90 minute journey from Manchester YES that’s how much the journey is worth while. We had the cheesy leeks for the first time ever...on a Sunday lunch back in Jan from here and ever since we have always loved returning.
Hope to see you all again soon.More

We were made to feel in the way because we had not decided if we were going to eat. Its fine if they need your table, but there is a way to do it. Hospitality, hmmm not much.More

Thank you for a lovely meal. The staff were so friendly and very accommodating for our Spaniel. It was my birthday and they gave me a complimentary dessert and played Happy Birthday. The food was lovely and the overall atmosphere was great. I would definitely...visit again.More
