Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We hand a wonderful lunch at this lovely pub this afternoon/evening, with my family, the food, atmosphere and service was excellent very hearty meals, the lamb shoulder was to die for and the choice of food was exceptional and the service was excellent and staff were very friendly and welcoming and our young waitress - Lynn did a wonderful job looking after us. We will be back 😀Thankyou

Phoned in advance as I'm on crutches so checked accessibility and it was great! Easy to book and our table was in the window but away from where folk could trip over crutches - it was so nice. Food, service were excellent and very good value for money. My husbands veggie pie was huge and he loved it. Great range of ales.

First time for our small group at this eatery. Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and good food. Most of us settled for the fish and chips and there were enough chips and peas to feed a multitude!!!!. Extremely tasty and I finished off with the Waffle and Ice cream with flambéed banana. Many people in attendance. Thought the price a tad expensive. Our bill with dessert and coffee came to £35 per head but all in all somewhere we will return to

Been here many times over the years. Today we had bad service and awful food. Not happy and will never return. We complained about the food but our complaints were never addressed.

Unfortunately we could not eat here as the only table we could book was outside under a canopy . It was far too cold and some of the heaters weren't working. Very disappointed as we hoped to celebrate my daughter's birthday here

Have been to the old windmill a few times previously and had a great time but my latest experience was extremely disappointing. I had the chicken pappardelle. The chicken was dry and crusty, so overcooked and the pasta simply bland. I mentioned it to the waitress who said she'd inform the manager but there was no manager to be seen. The place looked like it was run by teenagers. I messaged them on their Instagram account but received no response. Not likely to go back now

Underwhelming experience. We hod high expectations but they weren’t met. We waited a long time for our starters and they were tepid when they arrived. We had to send back the children’s meal as it was overdone but cold at the same time. The food had probably been waiting under lamps in the kitchen for too long. Adult main courses were fine but the service was cursory and distant. No smiles or interaction, especially not from the man we assumed was the boss’. We felt ‘processed’ rather than welcomed. It’s such a lovely looking pub, in an idyllic setting close to the reservoir, but the welcome is not as warm as the open fire. We were disappointed and we wouldn’t rush back, which is a shame.

Very disappointed. Table booked in advance but there wasn’t a reserved table held for us. Shown to a table away from the main area, down some stairs that weren’t disabled friendly. The wine ordered with our meal turned up when we had about 3 mouthfuls left. No one asked if everything was ok even though there was a steady stream of staff going back and forth to the back of the area we were seated in.

Brilliant we was allowed to bring our dog. Brilliant choice on the menu and a kids menu. But two of us had tortellini, it was rubbery, under seasoned and dry. We never got table checked and the waitress never asked if everything was ok when she collected the plates and see I had left over half my meal. My husbands fish pie was lovely.

We love this pub, great atmosphere, always accommodate our pushchair (and baby). Visited before christmas and was gifted a voucher with an unknown discount inside - despite what the previous reviewer has said - it stated in big bold letters DO NOT OPEN - the waiter opened it as he gave us our bill and we had a 25% voucher inside. Returning again on 13th feb to use our second one :)

My wife and myself visited The Old windmill, prior to Christmas for a nice meal (which we both very much enjoyed). At the end of the meal we were given a brown envelope ( saying do not open) - We did open this, as im sure almost everyone else would, to find a very nice voucher saying 25% off for our next visit. So I called to book a table and asked about my voucher to be told it was no longer valid, as we had opened the envelope, and this had to be opened by the waitress only. A very poor marketing strategy, in our view, if not a strange sort of ploy. Very disappointed considering we have always liked The Old Windmill

Enjoyed an after work meal here with friends as one of the team has a new role. The service was good, but a few drinks were slow and it took ages to get the bill. The food was lovely and presented well too.
