We popped in the other evening for the 1st time to what is quite a large open plan restaurant, totally devoid of diners.
We were only passing through and my wife wanted a curry so we decided to eat there anyway.
The decor was quite glitzy, all chrome and black but not to my taste.
We ordered a shared pakora which was lovely but the mains, a dopiaza and a bhuna were just average and not very spicy hot. A generous portion of rice accompanied the dinner with a chapatti, all promptly served after a poppodum each with a small bowl of diced/spiced onions.
The table lacked any decoration and no hot-plates were used to keep the curry bowls warm.
Service was very good but prices were high. £40.00 (with tip) for the above which also included a 1/2 pint of lager and a small coke.
The overall impression we formed was that the restaurant might have been successful in its day but now seems to cater for and survive on the take-away market.
Would we go back? Probably not.

The exterior belies the tasteful stylish interior, so much so that we thought twice about entering. Inside is very nice and clean but you have two flights of stairs if you need to go to the ladies or gents.
The staff are very friendly and keep on top of hygiene which is a bonus.
The food was very good it was tasty and the rice was perfect but there was very little meat in the sauce 5 tiny pieces of lamb that were small enough for a child to eat plenty of very tasty sauce.
The popadoms and onions which are offered again very tasty but not sure if these were complimentary probably are as their is only a small spoonful of onion which would suggest they are.
The price for 2 lamb bhoona with fried rice and a can of coke £22.95 that is with the Meerkat 2 for 1 discount. Bit pricey for such small portions of curry.

Visited this restaurant last night using a Groupon voucher
Voucher entitles you to 2 starters,2 mains and a boiled rice and a plain Nan to share. We paid a couple of supplements too. The food was tasty but a bit too much for us to finish. At the end of the meal I asked for what we hadn’t t eaten to be parcelled up to take away. The waiter informed me that this was not possible as we were using a Groupon voucher!!!!
This makes me wonder what was going to happen to the leftover food
There is nothing on the voucher stating this is their policy
A complaint has been made to Groupon

We had a Groupon voucher deal. Now I thought the whole point of a Groupon deal was that it was to encourage you to come back to the place in future and pay full price. That won't be happening. We booked in advance, and I checked the voucher details before I went in. It includes two courses for 2, with rice and a naan to share. It said you can choose a starter priced from 5.95 and a main from 9.95. it gave suggestions of mushroom poori, and chicken Maharani. I love poori, and I knew before I went in, that's what I would order. When we entered, the man was serving a take away customer, asked if we were in for a takeaway or a sit in. He took us to our table and asked about drinks, I said to him then about the voucher. He brought us a special menu for this. There was no poori on the menu, so I asked for the main menu also, but it was mainly to see the description of the main courses, because I wasn't sure the flavours or spicyness of each of the dishes. I asked the waiter if I would be able to have a mushroom poori as this was £5.95 (according to the description of the voucher this would be included) but he said if I wanted this I would pay full price for it. I tried to say to him what the voucher said, but he said this is why we have a separate menu. I felt like saying to him to review what it said on the Groupon website. I ordered chicken pakora. This was 4 pieces or chicken. My partner ordered chicken tikka masala and I ordered chicken pasanda. When they came, they were identical in colour and flavour, they tasted exactly the same. The portions appeared to be much smaller than any Indian restaurant I've eaten in before. We both finished it, it wasn't filling, the pakora was nice enough but the main was fairly tasteless. The other waiter who took our plates was friendly. I wonder how different my experience would be if I hadn't purchased a Groupon deal. Even if the guy had not refused me the starter that was advertised on the voucher, maybe I wouldn't be writing this review just now. I have read other reviews about him commenting on Groupon customers saying they're getting it cheap, yes but the point is, it should be a full portion, not a smaller amount. 4 pieces of pakora for £5.95?? Also £3.25 for a can of cola, £5 for a pint of lager. Bit much for Johnstone. Does he think it's Glasgow city centre?
He shouldn't be doing Groupon if he grudges people the food. We ended up having to go next door to the desert shop to have something to eat there, unheard of if you've eaten a full Indian meal.

Don't be fooled into buying a Groupon deal for this restaurant. Total con, they give you a manky paper menu to choose from, most of which are nothing like the description in the Groupon voucher. I questioned this, the rude water said, this is why we give you a specific menu. You could of course pay full price for any other starter not listed!! You don't get to read the description of all the dishes, it's just a list of food names. They give you small portions, we ordered pakora, 4 pieces on a plate with some onion and a tiny sliver of tomato. A shared dip. The main courses were pale and tasteless, identical to each other even though different dishes were ordered. The naan was the only nice thing. They compensate for the voucher by charging exorbitant prices for drinks. They must be looking to put off every person in the whole of the area by being mean with portions and giving rubbish customer service, rather than being very nice to people and giving an accurate representation of a full priced meal, so people may think of coming back. No wonder we were the only people there. The drinks came to £8.25, I had a can of coke, he had a lager. These are definitely prices you would expect to pay in the city centre. Not here. It put me off ever considering ordering a take away. I'll go back to Mirage in Paisley.

My partner and I had a groupon voucher. We were seated in an almost empty room which was freezing even the staff had their jackets on. We were given dirty greasy peices of paper which was the set menu. Their set menu did not reflect the voucher deal. There was a £4 additional charge for chicken Tikka and £5 charge for lamb. May i add this was not indicated by groupon voucher. We both ordered chicken pakora. The starters came out almost immediately. It was Luke warm and portions included 4 small peices of chicken pakora each. I couldn't eat it because it was cold and gave mine to my partner. We both ordered chicken Tikka Masala. Now I am a person who has loved Indian food for years. What I was served was inedible. It was pale and pastey. There was a vile after taste as though I had eaten wall paper paste. It had the texture of grainy baby food. The rice was cold. Even if you wanted to eat it portions were tiny. Only redeemable factor the Nan looked nice but by that point I had to leave. This has been the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Having a voucher your made to feel its ok for them to serve you terrible food. Do not buy a voucher for this place thinking you are getting a good deal don't do it. By the way waiter was walking about in his slippers and looked miserable. Only glad I ate nothing and would rather eat toast.

Myself and my family are big lovers of indian food and Shimla isn't that far away from us, my parents first started going there nearly 30 years ago! We're very familiar with the staff at this point and they're all so lovely and helpful, they can't do enough for you. The food overall is excellent, but I would say to avoid the chicken pakora it isn't the best. Would really recommend, I have never been disappointed.

Midweek visit to Shimla Pinks (Johnstone) using our 2 for 1 Compare the Market voucher.
Popadoms as an appetiser, King Prawn (Pakora & Tandoori) for starters and Chicken Pardesi and Chicken Mysore for mains accompanied by a Peshwari Nan and a Pilau Rice.
Food was very good quality and quantity and the service very good too.
Pretty quiet on Wednesday evening but only to be expected in these times of social distancing restrictions.
However it is good to get out and support our local restaurants and shops so if you get a chance visit Shimla Pinks, you won’t be disappointed.

Booked a Groupon deal for 4 but 1 cancelled at the last minute (as we were sitting at the table) and as we had paid for 4 we asked for the 4 meals and was told very abruptly (while pointing at the front door) that under no circumstances could we get the 4 meals. He then on to tell us we would be getting very big portions so wouldn't need it anyway. Utter crap as the portion sizes were tiny. We understood the policy and had we had been told in a different manner we wouldn't have had an issue but it was the way the manager spoke to us that has made me never want to go back. The only reason I gave it a 1 star is because I can't leave a minus.

We ordered a delivery and because we know we can be tricky to find, we gave them detailed directions. Also asked them to ring if they got lost.
Two hours later we got a call. Delivery girl had no instructions and had been looking for us for over an hour! We guided her to the door but food was cold. Despite one of the dishes being "mild and creamy with a hint of green chilli", it was way over spiced and inedible. First and last time for us.

Having tried most of the Indian Restaurants in the Bridge of Weir and Johnstone area we find that Shimla Pinks is the best for taste and consistency. The Tandoori main courses with separate curry sauce are a firm favourite. The staff are always friendly and attentive and the curries excellent! 10/10

Myself and work colleague used a Groupon voucher on Tuesday night. Restaurant was quiet with only one other table of diners . Staff were very friendly and explained voucher and our meal choices with good knowledge . Food was excellent and large portions . Only reason for taking 1 star off is that drinks are a bit too expensive even for a restaurant . Saying that I would definitely go back for the food .

My family had previously moved to Johnstone and were recommended Shimla Pinks. However, after only one meal, I can’t insist enough that this place be avoided at all costs. Pakora was bland and rough, food watered down and sauces watery and tasteless with the garlic mayo having visible MOULD in it. When taken back to the establishment, the multiple staff members I dealt with were quick and keen to dispose of the incident by binning the sauce and giving us a new one, no refund offered and horrendous customer service, just arrogance, defensiveness and outright rude manner. If you value your health or tastebuds then do NOT eat at this place. You’ve been warned…
P.S - one star is too good for this place

We ordered takeout- achari lamb and South Indian garlic chill prawns. Both were flavourful (and not swimming in oil as a recent meal from Shimla Cottage was). The nuance of the spices was evident and the fresh chilli and coriander added to the flavours. The veg pakora was crisp, non greasy and of a generous portion.
