The title of this review is a private joke between us and the barman! We received a warm and friendly welcome, and the barman was very entertaining which added to the enjoyment of the visit. The food was well cooked, well presented and most importantly very tasty. The menu was also quite extensive, along with quite a large selection on... More

Looking for some real ale, the Taylor's Landlord did not come up to expectation but the Tetley's was excellent. On looking at the menu for a starter which was unusual, I spotted the fact that they did a tarted up spam fritter. Well, I will try anything once. However, with this item, never again. Whatever the menu describes it as,... More

open fires, real ales, quality menu - nice change from "Brewer's Fayre" type pub grub - this is more home cooked, Sunday roasts definitely recommended. Very welcoming to visitors and locals alike.

Visited for Sunday lunch , staff friendly and helpful . On the whole the food was good. The interior needs a lot of modernising . On the visit it took around 40 mins to serve some beef dinners . Which when there is only 8 tables does seem excessive. After all I know Sunday roast are prepped ahead and plated... More

Meals were lovely and came really fast ! Very generous portion of fish. Nice friendly staff . Was very pleased with the vegetarian options ! Not cheap but not overpriced either . We really liked the sound of puddings but were put off staying by some obnoxious locals sat at the bar having very loud conversations about things that just... More

A lunch stop on a circular walk from Settle. We were made very welcome and were told we could take our dog anywhere. Had a very pleasant lunch.

The pub catered excellently with a party of over 20 older people, who had pre-booked a lunch out, locally. Tables were well set, in the traditional U shape, with sparkling tableware. We were warmly welcomed by the staff. Everyone said the starters were good - certainly my kidney and bacon vol-au-vents were delicious. For the mains we had a choice... More

We visited the Boars Head as three couples on New Years Eve lunch time as we were visiting the area to attend a friends wedding. The food and service were excellent, lovely log burner in the pub and friendly local people enjoying lunch, bar and waiting staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Two of our group had the largest (and... More
