This restaurant located in a castle is already gorgeous but spending the dinner here is something amazing. They are cooking a perfect Fiorentina's steak with a special bread cooked in an homemade style. In addition, as entrees, you can test a different kind of salami...More

This restaurant is in the castle of Compiano and has a beautiful outdoor seating area in an old courtyard. The inside rooms were nice as well. The menu is mainly built around the Panigaccio -- the traditional bread of the region -- and it is...More

We recently had the pleasure of eating here while staying in the Castello; suffice it to say that we enjoyed it so much that we went back again. Matteo, our server, was super friendly, accommodating and helpful with our (at best) halting Italian. Daniel, the...More

We lunched here with the panigacci (a sort of crepe but not really) flavored with 3 different sauces. Unusual and delicious.

Al Panigaccio, at least when I visited, I would classify more as a bar with grilled meats (although there may be more selection in the summer). As stated in the name, the main item is the "panigaccio" which is a type of bread (consists of...More

Description
Compiano Castle houses a panigacceria and braceria where you can savour panigacci, a typical speciality of the Lunigiana area, which are highly digestible and can be savoured in their sweet or savoury versions. Originally a type of peasant flatbread , the panigaccio owes its characteristic round shape to the fact that it is baked in a special, red-hot terracotta plate called "Testo", which is heated over an open fire. Its plain dough, made of flour, water and salt, is highly digestible. The perfect complement to cured meats and cheeses, it is also excellent with chocolate and custard. In addition to the panigacci, the restaurant serves salads, grilled meats from local farms and home-made desserts in a welcoming and colourful ambience. You can chose to eat in one of the four rooms inside the restaurant or outside on the terrace.
