Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Arrived on a Sunday hoping for a Sunday lunch and were in luck, Sunday dinner was fabulous everything cooked to perfection, fish bucket and halloumi to start, one main of pork and one of beef. It’s rated in our top 3 Sunday dinners ever when eating out. Staff friendly, checked in to a clean and spacious room with a comfy bed. Enjoyed the beer garden on a sunny afternoon and had an evening snack of loaded fries (great idea to have a list of toppings and pick your own) and halloumi fries, again all tasty. Breakfast was a pre order - which isn’t always my first choice predicting what I want the following day, but again could not fault, brilliant. Overall this place was a great find and will certainly call in for food at the least when next in the area, but likely to stay again. The only tiny improvements we could find would be a shower that had some power, and the staff not taking over the pool table all evening after finishing their shifts - but little things that would not take away from a great all round 5* experience.

Every time I come here, I eat a scrumptious meal. They are quite large portions and great value. The staff are kind and cooperative like when yesterday I asked whether the vegan nut roast had a Yorkshire pudding and it didn't (because it was vegan) so they added one for me, no extra cost. The puddings are delightfully delicious and even homemade. The menu changes which I think is fantastic because it can be boring with the same choices.

Absolutely stunning place! We stayed New Years Eve and had the best time. Our room (The Sheep) was immaculate. The beds were very comfortable and it was so peaceful. All of the staff were so friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the bar was great. Breakfast was beautiful (veggie options available as you choose your items), just can’t fault this place. We will be coming back for sure! Thank you for such a wonderful New Years Eve.

We had christmas lunch, the set put was poor, christmas crackers would of better from the pound shop. The starter was basic, the christmas dinner was below average, 1 half of a roast potato, dessert apple pie was a tin of apple slop, was not worth £90 a head. The only good thing was the young girls serving... Never go back !!

Advised to dine here and found the location quite easily although its sits next to an industrial building. Plenty of parking. We were quickly greeted and seated by staff who were very attentive. A good range of dishes on the menu and I enjoyed a well cooked and large portion of gammon and chips. The puddings were especially well presented. Friendly staff kindly opened a cork wine bottle top as our B&B didn't have a corkscrew, or so we thought. Good value.

We came here for family lunch, having been before and thoroughly enjoyed. Nice garden out the back, if the weather is hot. Starters were good and plenty of choice. Main courses we felt a little disappointing. The jambalaya was bland and homemade burger only mediocre. Plenty of options from the grill, which we didn't have or try. Some folk placed orders at the table, others had to go to the bar to order food, other than that service was quick. Pricing approx was £30/pp with drinks starters and mains. Wi-Fi, if you are taking kids, is hit and miss.

There aren't many places to eat on the B4386 between Shrewsbury and Montgomery, and so we pulled over here, expecting, from the look of it, to get something bland and average such as you would from a Harvester. How wrong we were. An interesting and varied menu - we had nachos (home made!) with the usual accompaniments, and a butternut squash and leek lasagne with a Swiss chard and salsa and sun-dried tomato salad... (home made, again!)there were three real ales on tap, and I can vouch for the Three Tuns' Solstice Pale Ale. The service was prompt, polite, friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the price very reasonable indeed. A place worth putting on your map.

After driving past this pub many times I finally decided to give it a go for lunch. Having used its fabulous sister venue The Raven, countless times, I was expecting a similar experience. Unfortunately I was disappointed, Walking in the front door, into a dreary looking bar area I was greeted by an awfully strong smell of bleach. Looking around, the whole place needs a good clean (despite the bleach smell) the hanging pictures, piles of old books, light fittings were thick with dust. The decor is just odd, a fairly new pub trying to look old but in a haphazard way. It’s such a shame because the food was very nice indeed, everything cooked to perfection and very tasty. I ordered a pie, which I was told was big. Now what I got completely stunned me! This pie was big enough to feed a family of four! I am a big eater but No way I could eat it all and I felt terrible at wasting so much food. I can’t quite figure out the idea of such enormous portions that go to waste. Probably silly to complain over a too large portion but this was just silly. I don’t think I’ll return in a hurry as I’d rather drive a little further to The Raven.

Had visited previously without prior booking, however despite this a table was found for us and a superb meal served. So impressed were we by this excellent service we returned within the month having this time made a formal booking. Once again we found all the staff friendly, attentive and very efficient. Thus did we thoroughly enjoy a superlative three course Sunday Lunch for a very fair amount for so fine a fare. And the menu is certainly one of most extensive fare ! It is easy enough to find with ample parking making it a highly recommended hostelry to seek out in the stunning Shropshire countryside. No wonder it was well attended with other satisfied diners. Of course mention has to be made that it complies exactly with the strictures of the Covid 19 measures.

We had a lovely welcome. There was a huge choice of menus. The usual Sunday menu as well as the main menu. It was difficult to choose. I opted for the soup and roast pork. The rest of the family had roast beef, curry, chicken supreme and a steak ciabatta. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was good as were the staff. We'd definitely be back.

For the money, this was hugely impressive. The salmon starter was lovely, the chimichanga was enough enough to feed 6, and the Bakewell pudding had the best sponge that I’ve tasted in years. Definitely a must if you’re passing through into mid-Wales. Need a kip now 😴💤

Had to sit outside due to Covid regulations so it was fortunate it was a dry, fairly sunny day. The menu was very extensive and well priced. I opted for the tempura fish and chips. The chunky chips were crisp but I found the batter to be on the greasy side. My companions enjoyed their choice of fishfinger ciabatta and halloumi wrap. Service was good but I assume it will be even better when they have the usual complement of staffing once Covid regs are relaxed.

Hi Colleen, Thanks for your review - I'll have a look into the batter situation. The regulations are making things extremely difficult for us at the moment so when they are lifted things will hopefully be a lot smoother! Cheers

I am lucky to be able to call the Lowfield Inn "my local". This is not a pub with the usual pub grub but a restaurant with fine dining. The food is always superb and the menu changes frequently so I am always able to try something new when I visit. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the ambiance is lovely, especially when the fire is lit. Keep it up

We had a very pleasant stay for two nights towards the end of August, we were in the area to visit relatives nearby. We have eaten at the Lowfield many times but this was the first time staying overnight. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. We ate dinner both nights and as usual it was great! The food at the Lowfield is always excellent and very generous portions. Cask beers as ever very well kept. The staff deserve much praise as they were dealing with huge numbers of diners due to the Eat Out deal but as usual they were calm and friendly and totally helpful. The full English breakfast was beautifully cooked with high quality ingredients, really lovely!
