Beautiful Mells with its pond and lovely walks is then capped by this charming cafe run by volunteers. The cakes are homemade and the drinks good, it has a post office and shop attached; what a delight

The food is all home / freshly made on the premises and for a village coffee shop has a nice variety. Feels like a village hub being attached to the post office and village stores and obviously is a good resource for the village and surrounding area ....if you don't want to go as far as Frome, Radstock etc ... but... Thank you for the kind words. We are a community run business so there are many volunteers who will appreciate your review. As you could only give us 3/5 would you mind replying, in confidence, with what stopped you giving 4 or 5? We are reviewing all aspects of the cafe and shop at the moment so all comments, good... This is a fine example of a community taking care of what they have and wanting to share it with others. Has a huge following with cyclists and walkers alike. Walking boots are welcomed. A pump for cyclists. Great local produce and coffee all run by the community.

Such friendly people, a couple of my friends have been involved in the Mells Cafe, and it really is a testament to community spirit that it exists to serve the locals.

My five year old said this cafe served the best food he had ever had! It's a delightful place: delicious food, served up in a beautiful setting with friendly staff. The knitting baskets are also a nice touch! 😄💐

We walked to Mells from Frome and stopped in for a cup of tea. Low and behold they had a basket of knitting so that we ended up sitting outside knitting in the sun (January!). Its a really great community shop and cafe - all villages should have one!

We must have eaten here over half a dozen times over the last couple of years. It has always been exceptional value for money; large portions of good quality food nicely served in a pleasant environment. Much better then the pretentious place up the road!

There is a post office with cheerful and helpful staff. The food in the cafe section is always fresh and the hot meals and snacks are prepared while you wait. The shop is run by volunteers. There is always a good selection of local produce to buy at very reasonable prices. Everyone is very friendly. On warm days you can... More
