Found after detour forced by closing of Lulworth ranges. Thank you to the Royal Marines as Clavells is superb. Friendly and watchful staff, very good food and excellent service. Fantastic lunch just after 11am. A delicious takeaway homemade scotch egg, free mince pie and cup...of tea just before closing time saved the day at the end of a long wet walk.More

We visited for my Mum’s 83rd Birthday Lunch. I booked online which was easy and requested if a birthday message could be put on Mum’s dessert. The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was a rainy day which meant the outside tables were unavailable....This made it a bit busier indoors but not at all crowded. It is dog friendly which I always look for, although our dogs were not with us that day. The Fish and Chips were really lovely but a huge portion! Dessert was delicious and my Mum’s plate was done beautifully. A huge thank you for her dessert plate. She was very grateful and it made her feel extra special. Sorry for knocking my drink over two minutes after arriving! A lovely spot for a casual or special meal. Ideal for walkers too.More

We were looking forward to this lunch however, we were disappointed. Burger poor quality and food generally not that good. The price isn’t too bad because of the 2 for 1 mains offer they had on but we would have been really disappointed if the...we had paid full price. It’s a shame because the staff were lovely and the place it’s self is nice enough and in a pretty location. Just a shame about the food.More

An excellent Sunday lunch. Three of us had turkey, one pork. Traditional English style but with some very nice additions. Not even sure what they were, but they were really nice. Great vegetables too. And friendly helpful staff. We were visiting the Etches Collection across...the road, which is a brilliant museum, then spotting fossils in the rocks on the beach. The walks here are also really good. Watch out for the funny cow photo.More

Stayed in Kimmerage so this restaurant was a godsend. Not much else around. They could have gotten away with shoddy, low quality everything but were the very opposite of this. Lovely, helpful service and smashing food. Had the crab sandwich that was served with chunky,...crispy, fluffy chips.More

Hugely overpriced and very poor quality food. We ordered moules at £25 expecting them to be pretty special at that price. They were not. The scones were more like cakes. Really disappointed.

Taking advantage of the amazing buy 1 main, get one fee (if ordered with a starter or dessert) offer, and as it was to celebrate a significant Birthday, we arrived at this gorgeous spot in Kimmeridge. The restaurent is cosy, staff lovely. Gorgeous food and...everything we ate was too notch. Had a fab Aperol Spritz whilst studying the extensive menu. As it was a special birthday, I ordered a Sancerre to go with starters and main. Very nice. I had Fishcakes to start and Lobster Thermidor, fresh from the Bay, for the main. Top notch. Everyone enjoyed their choices. Couldn’t fault anything and pleased to recommend.More

We have eaten here many times, especially for Sunday lunch. Our last visit was slightly different to our previous ones which have all been outstanding. Firstly the staff, outstanding, extremely helpful and attentive. The general vibe of the restaurant is of a friendly, easy going...and relaxing place. The food on this visit was "mixed" , in particular we found the roast meats on the tough side. The vegetables were very good with more than ample quantities. The restaurant redeemed itself with deserts, I mentioned whilst chatting that I normally like cheese (not only the menu) in preference to a sweet desert. The lady said "leave it to me" . I was presented with a very large cheese platter with my preferred bread vs biscuits. Absolutely outstanding and just exceptional Customer service. Well done and we will be back with friends.More

What a lovely place this is. Classy but not so much that they don’t accept walking boots! Lovely food and equally lovely service. Highly recommended on all counts.

Aside from being just about the only restaurant in Kimmeridge Bay, and thus the only dining option for walkers stopping there on the Southwest Coast Path, this is one of the loveliest places I've ever stopped to drink and eat – staffed by the loveliest and...kindest staff I've ever encountered. I was leading a group of four vegans walking the south coast, and trying to book us into the most vegan-friendly restaurant in each village or town every night. Kimmeridge was actually the one I was really worried about – only one place in town, and with like ONE vegan option on the menu. Figured we'd just figure it out – we'd have to! – eating crisps or chips or salad or trying to order off the menu or something. But I had mentioned in the booking that we are all vegan. When we got there, after a long day of hiking, we found the building and huge outdoor garden incredibly inviting, and settled down for drinks in the beautiful sunset. Whilst order at the bar, I chanced to look up to a shelf and saw: A WHOLE PRINTED VEGAN MENU. I thought, Hallelujah, how did I miss that!? We're saved! When I mentioned it to the barkeep, and manager, they said, "Oh, yes, well, we've got a group of four vegans coming in tonight, so we thought we'd make a bit of an effort." I was gobsmacked. First, I said, "We're them! We're the vegans!" Then, of course: "You DID A WHOLE VEGAN MENU – JUST FOR US!?" And they did. And it was truly fantastic, with multiple starters and mains, all of them terrific. (And including dessert – multiple ice cream flavours, including salted caramel, and a chocolate brownie – dessert was amazing!) I don't think I've ever been so blown away by a restaurant's kindness and generosity. Even aside from that, it's an absolutely cracking and lovely place to eat and drink. Recommended to the moon. 💚More

We love to visit Kimmeridge on our holidays to Dorset, and this time we decided to stop off for a cream tea. Clavells came highly recommended by our Airbnb host and we were not disappointed. We were presented with huge scones, homemade and warm which...were absolutely delicious! Service was quick and friendly and the cream tea was reasonably priced. We would love to come back next year and recommend to friends!More
