This is my most favourite place to visit for lunch or evening meal. Everything about Gravetye is amazing, from the staff, to the food, the gardens and the hotel.

Simply Stunning! Quite literally the most extraordinary experience. We had the tasting menu and I actually cried and laughed at some of the dishes. Pure Art! So so Good. Go and enjoy. An experience you will never forget.

Arrived early so had a walk round the beautiful grounds, still, at the end of September, full of flowers and colour. Went into the snug for a drink then after a while went into the main restaurant. We were seated next to a glass wall...looking out over the beautiful garden. Amuse bouche served after a short wait, contrasting flavours (one a bit too cheesy for me). Starters were stunningly presented, as were all courses. The only mildly disappointing dish was my char dish, a tiny bit short on flavour, textures wonderful though. Intermediate course was lobster and scallops interesting delicious flavours. Made a slight error with the suckling pig as not my favourite meat but my friend had the duck. I can only say the chocolate dessert was beyond words! The “sour” alcohol free cocktail was an all time favourite. Chatted to chef fr a while after service. What a lovely man a superb venue seriously well worth 100 mile trip Ps toilets perfect too. Very nice efficient skilled staff all roundMore

I tried calling to check availability for a 1 year anniversary and when the phone was answered an incredibly rude elderly woman answered the phone and proceeded to demand "who I was" when i had merely asked if there was any space for 2 on...a certain date. it's almost as if I had called her personal mobile, yet this was the number on the website. Would suggest - new phone handler be designated. Will not be dining here.More

We arrived early to see the famous gardens and were not disappointed, they’re beautiful. We then sat in the garden for a pre dinner drink which set the tone for the rest of the meal. We were then taken in to the beautiful glass dining...room with a view over the garden. The menu was varied and fortunately for me, not a tasting menu. There were 4 courses and all were delicious and efficiently served. We also had coffee and petit four in a comfortable lounge. Obviously it is not cheap and for special occasions only but it was all so enjoyable that it was well worth it and would love to return.More

Wonderful 4 course lunch on a warm, sunny day. We came for my birthday and it did not disappoint! I’ve put a reminder in my diary to book next year ☺️ Service was of a high standard from the welcome at the door through to...settling up. Wonderful pre dinner drinks in the garden. We had a wander round the kitchen garden too. Food was excellent and the soufflé was again the star of the show. Wine also fab. We finished our bottle in the garden afterwards. I always feel special when I come here, the service is excellent and the food is some of the best in Sussex. Very much enjoyed my birthday - thank you!More

We were lucky enough to make a return visit for a 1 night stay including dinner to celebrate a delated anniversary. It still is a truly special place the hotel , gardens etc are stunning. The staff are friendly , courteous and professional. The restaurant...and food well deserving the Michelin star awarded. We can not recommend a visit strongly enough and certainly plan to return sometime in the future.More

A really disappointing experience. My partner and I visited to celebrate my birthday. On arrival to the hotel we were not greeted at the restaurant but had to find a member of staff. We were sat in front of the window overlooking some lovely views...of the gardens, however views disrupted due to the vast amount of flies inside the windows throughout. 3 of which ended up in my partners drink on 3 separate occasions!! Not only this but constantly having to ensure they didn’t land on the food either! We nearly enough finished our 3 courses within 30 mins of arrival, everything was rushed, we were clearly a number! We asked to take a pause between a course so we could let our food go down and try to enjoy our experience to the disbelief of the waiter who suggested a 5 minute wait?! I had finished what I could eat of my dessert, my partner was still finishing his however. No sooner had I put my spoon down the waiter came over ready to take our plates away and when we said we weren’t quite finished, he suggested we swap plates so my partner could finish mine. The reputation is clearly based on those fortunate to stay in the hotel rather than diners wanting to enjoy a Michelin star experience. The food seemed to be the last priority. The overall vibe was pretentiousness with no substance. Our night was not an enjoyable one and all I can say is we were more than disappointed and certainly will not be recommending this place.More

The main reason we came was to have a wonder around the garden, as I had seen it on a gardening programme. We thought we’d have lunch too whilst there, so booked a table a few months in advance. We had such a lovely afternoon....All staff extremely polite, friendly and efficient. The gardens were beautiful, from the formal gardens, the orchard with wild orchids, the peach house, croquet lawn and colourful beds, to the kitchen garden. We met the head gardener too and had a quick chat with him. We started with coffee on the lawn, then a quick wonder, then a g&t on the lawn again. We then went into the new(ish) dining room with stunning views of the garden. Lunch was delicious and worth every penny. Then coffee after lunch back on the lawn, finished off with the rest of the garden. Would highly recommend for a real treaty afternoon out. Thankyou for having us. 🙂More
