Set in beautiful grounds with amazing views of the Sussex Weald this charming manor house sets the scene for what is to come. A slight drizzle prompted an immediate response from a staff member who cam rushing up to us with an umbrella as we walked the short distance from the car park. We were shown into a comfy lounge... A brilliant michelin starred chef - best meals are a la carte as opposed to the excellent value table d'hote.

We had the seven course tasting menu. The service was excellent, water, wine, bread and food appearing swiftly. My favourite courses, the garden salad with confit egg was divine, layers of flavour I could have eaten it twice. The turbot and squid was extremely tasty as were the scallops. I was all beautifully cooked and presented. The only thing I... More

Expectations are naturally high in a venue such as this. The deal is: pay lots for exceptional food and service; therefore will judge everything relative to the (now widely available) high end gastropub, which does good food but doesn't fuss with white tablecloths and sommeliers and consequently charges a lot less. Experience started well: shown to a sofa in the... More

We stayed at Gravetye and ate our meals there, but a lot of the locals were dining there too both for lunch and dinner which is always a good sign. But, it was confirmed that the food was gourmet and excellent service. We enjoyed dinner in the formal dining room and had a delightful lunch in the garden. In the... More

This is a truly excellent dining experience. From the moment you arrive every aspect of the restaurant is first class. The food is exquisite. Every course was a delight on the a-la-carte menu. The attention to detail in each plate and the sublime flavours were some of the best I have ever enjoyed. No fuss good professional serving staff. This... More

Friendly helpful staff, attractive venue, pleasant atmosphere - and brilliantly inventive menu using old favourites as key ingredients. Particularly loved glazed walnut foie gras parfait, turbot with saffron pasta and spiced cockle foam and the chestnut crumble souffle. But was so impressive was that each re-invention was just as superb as the last

Lunch with a good friend and we had a memorable occasion. Staff and service faultless and charming. Roaring log fire in front of which to have a drink on arrival followed by a memorable lunch which was unusual, delicious, beautifully presented and expertly cooked. The situation of Gravetye and the gardens are worth a visit in themselves. All in all... More

Had a fantastic lunch with friends. The open fire was very welcoming on a gloomy day. Service was very relaxing and friendly allowing us to catch up over drinks by the fire before ordering and being shown to our table. The set menu at £33 for 3 courses and great wines by the glass was good value for such good... More

Attended a Christmas celebration in one of the private dining rooms. Stunning setting, beautiful, elegant Christmas decorations and wonderful roaring fire. Impeccable service while maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The food was delightful and beautifully presented.

Description
From unhurried classical dining in our atmospheric wood panelled restaurant to leisurely lunches in the garden, from traditional Afternoon Teas to our very reasonable Table d’Hote menu – we hope to delight and enchant with our food regardless of the occasion. We are incredibly fortunate to have a one acre walled kitchen garden, which during the summer months provides 95% of all fruit and vegetables we use in the kitchen, assuring you of the very freshest ingredients.

"We have an exceptionally talented team in the kitchen who are very keen to keep ingredients as fresh and local as possible. Dishes will change as often as is practical and will offer something new to try regardless of how often our guests dine with us. I look forward to inviting you into our restaurant at an exciting time to try, what I firmly believe to be, some of the most honest and delicious food in food in the area." Executive Chef – Rupert Gleadow
