We have been here before and will come again . The chef asks if you are hungry , are allergic for something and makes suggestions . Well just follow his suggestions . We went for wine by the glass and were very well guided . You start with a degustation of 5 olive oils on toasted bread , then a primi with tartuffi and a second with stewed meat . The owner knows what he is doing and does it with passion . This place is worth a detour .

We have been guests in the trattoria twice and never did the host disappoint us. You can see and feel his passion for food and hospitality in general. His wine recommendations where great and offered superb value for the price. There were delicious options for vegetarian food, too. The second time we came, we brought friends with us. We blindly trusted his proposal for the dishes - and it was fantastic. Thank you for these two unforgettable evenings!

The dinner we had at L’Ombelico del Mondo was one of the best we had in Italy. The restaurant was recommended by our inn and honored our reservation despite being closed for a private event in their cinema. The service was from the proprietor’s daughter (I’m so sorry we don’t remember her name) but she was absolutely delightful - funny and honest. She gave us a verbal recitation of the menu and recommended a lovely wine that we really enjoyed. We started with a flavorful and fresh beef carpaccio and local farm plate with delicious pecorino and peppers, paired with a glass of sparkling wine and two amazing local olive oils. The restaurant was kind enough to split our plates for the amazing lemon gnocchi and a delicate and fall-apart tender rabbit meatball. We could not believe how reasonable the price was for this fantastic meal. We would have never found this place or the superbly charming town of Montisi on our own but it was a true highlight of our vacation.

Awful!! Beyond awful! We were so disappointed in this place after it came highly recommended by our hotel. First of all you walk into a bar and are wondering where the restaurant is — people just stare at you and say nothing. Luckily some fellow travelers pointed out that the restaurant is upstairs. Once we made it up there, it took over 30 minutes for wait staff to come by our table and we waited another hour for our food. The service was terrible and the food was even worse. There is no menu so they stop by your table to explain about 10 different options and it’s very hard to understand and even harder to remember. One of the two people waiting on us did not speak any English and the other was very hard to understand. No one ever came by to ask how our meal was and they made no mention when we asked for the check while our plates were still full (food was too terrible to eat.) By far the worst meal we had in Italy and we are trying to forget about it because it was such a low point in an overall great trip.

I have been several times and every time I get compliments on the excellent cuisine and hospitality. You feel at home, with the addition of a large menu based on typical Tuscan dishes, one better than the other, accompanied by excellent wines from starters to desserts. But I feel like focusing on the bill, where for the first time I was anything but in agreement with the fantastic innkeeper. I understand, having been there several times, that the bill is always the same, and does not change depending on how many courses you decide to have. And having been there recently with family members who preferred to select a few dishes, rather than tasting a little of everything, I found myself eating and tasting much less food, much less wine (a certain number of bottles were brought to us, all almost finished, even though we were constantly asked if we wanted more, but then again it wasn't a group of drinkers). In conclusion: for having eaten a poor starter, a good first course and a poor second course with a poor side dish, and a whole series of dessert tastings (I have never eaten as many desserts as this last time, but of course, I was hungry...) we always spent the usual 45 euros each. The same as the previous times but having eaten and drank much less. The bill was then presented to us per couple, 90 per couple in fact. But who wasn't in a couple and was in three? It means that you have given yourself €45 more than the bill. Or, as I think, the bill is and will always be 45 euros each, whatever you eat and drink? I don't like this way of doing things. I don't know if I'll go back, honestly.

Local packed like a can of sardines, they made us sit in a small table in 3. We order appetizers for three and we get one 3 with cold, soft croutons and other insignificant things. Meat for a third inedible for nerves. At home we realized that we paid a first course with truffles 20 € instead of the first with pumpkin and saffron that we ordered and consumed. Given the reviews we had good expectations but it was just a big disappointment

We were recommended to dine here by Valentin at Ciao Bike. We tried to dine last night out they were fully booked so we made a reservation and returned tonight. From the moment of our arrival we were warmly greeted by Gianluca. It was Sunday evening so for a bit we had the restaurant to our party of four, none of whom spoke Italian. Gianluca brought us a welcome glass of sparkling wine and oriented us to the menu, which he described on detail, but emphasized that “it’s your dinner” and offered to accommodate any combination of antipasti, primi and secondi. Noting our indecision, he suggested, “Allow me to propose…” We went with his recommendation for wines (white and red) and dishes. It was a fantastic meal, especially “his” sauce and the desserts. He brought after-dinner appertifs and really made the evening special. We made a reservation to return on our last night in Tuscany and I know this meal will be a highlight of the trip!

We couldn't resist visiting after reading all the amazing reviews. We had a fantastic lunch! Gianluca our host was wonderful and took time and care to ensure we felt welcome and comfortable. The service was unrushed and each of the courses, and the wine he selected for us were delicious. A lovely restaurant and host and very reasonable prices. We highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

For the third time I am attempting a review. The other two disappeared into the limbo of the app as soon as I got distracted by other matters. They were detailed reviews. Storytelling, detailed dishes, atmosphere and supporting characters. Now I'll simplify. Excellent restaurant, more, super excellent. An environment that in itself deserves a visit. The "barrista" who will welcome you, follow you and cuddle you helps to make you feel at home, to want to experiment with wines and dishes, to bet that you will return. Dishes (almost all, ça va sans dire) to scream, starting from the good and new oil that arrives as an amuse-bouche. Drinking, what do I tell you to do, we are in a wine shop for love and commerce, we are constantly fighting for excellence with the dishes on the menu. Correct prices. In short. Go there, go there, go there and love it.

You may wonder why a so fine restaurant in a village lost in Val d'Orcia, Montisi village of Montalcino territory, the answer is Gianluca at the tables in the and his mother at the fires. The bubbles are his passion as well as everything that is special. Today I had a tartare with some fried and roasted vegetables. Simple and great at the same time.

Simple but well-kept location. Warm environment. Host, very kind and prepared. Tuscan crostini, respecting tradition! Pici all'aglione, delicious! Grandma's meatloaf: delicate but tasty. Livers: tasty and with lard in the middle to keep them soft during cooking!! Dessert tasting: delicious! The meal was accompanied by a truly remarkable Rosso di Montalcino, for which we gave the host wide freedom of choice. The desserts were accompanied by notable sweet wine. Attentive and warm service. Water, coffee and cover charge, all for €45 each. So, good value for money. TO TRY!

After walking around all day in enchanting places we discovered this fantastic restaurant in Montisi. A very kind and friendly host who let us taste the best dishes of the local cuisine, serving us products of the highest quality. Excellent chianina tartare and the pici with ragù are superlative. It was a pleasure to have dinner and I will certainly return another time.

We were exploring nearby towns on stumbled on Montisi which quaint but a little sleepy. We decided to look for this restaurant based on its ratings and had a wonderful experience. We were initially put off by the casual bar downstairs but once we found our way to the restaurant upstairs it was much nicer. Still some what plain in terms of ambiance but it is quickly made up for by the personality of the host Jean Luca. ( not sure if I have his name spelled correctly) He pulled up a chair up out table and chatted for a few minutes. Word to the wise.. there is no written menu…he verbally reviews all the courses and then takes your order…so you better pay attention! The food, wine and service were all great.

Small pearl hidden in the small village of Montisi! It was recommended to us by a local and we were pleasantly surprised. Gianluca is an excellent host and you can see that he loves what he does very much, he followed us throughout the dinner, also advising us on the best wine to accompany our dishes. Menu explained verbally by the host which includes: 5 starters, 6 first courses and 6 second courses. We ordered for starters: finocchiona, carne salada, tartare and Tuscan bruschetta; as a first course: pici with garlic and navel (very good); for second: livers; finally cantucci with vinsanto, coffee and bitters. Excellent price

The lunch we enjoyed in the upstairs restaurant was first class. The chef came to the table and first asked about allergies, which my husband does have. He carefully explained the options and we both enjoyed his suggestions. It was a true culinary delight!
