Made to feel very unwelcome as we were 8mins late for booking. Tried to help by carrying drinks through from the bar and ordering immediately.
Food was very good but told we had to eat our deserts outside as the pub was closing at 2.00....Left a tip but really didn’t feel relaxed and happy
Wouldn’t go againMore
Previously one of our favourites - booked for lunch as part of a cycle ride down the Duddon valley. From this direction the road goes over “Shop Bridge”about three hundred yards from the pub. This is currently being rebuilt with no pedestrian alternative. Had we...been warned we could have used another route but we were not. Having phoned to explain our predicament we had to cycle around six miles up the fell and then back down reaching the pub moments after 2 pm expecting a sympathetic reception after our difficult time reaching them. Instead we were told food service was over in an unexpectedly unfriendly fashion. No alternative (a drink and a packet of crisps perhaps?) was offered and we were left dismayed by our reception and were left to cycle away again. After many years coming here for good food and pleasant helpful staff after this occasion we won’t be back.More
Blacksmiths Arms is a very special place. Came here a couple of weeks ago on a holiday with my family and the food (and wine) was delicious! Very attentive waitresses who were patient with our dithering and responded to allergy queries.
I left my shirt/...jacket and we live in Southampton so massive thank you to Michael who posted it back to me. Such a kind gesture which not many pub landlords would bother with. Thank you again :) From Anna xMore
This lovely little pub was recommended on a website I found whilst looking for things to do in the Lake District by a lady who said it’s not well known to tourists a bit off the beaten track.
The sat nav took us very near...but we did have to ask for directions but well worth the journey. The best fish and chips I’ve ever had. My husband had a chicken burger which was delicious we even had pud! Gorgeous views, very friendly thank you so much will definitely return if in the area again.More
